I remember, the day that would forever change my life, as it as the first time I met one of the shadow creatures, though at that time I had no idea what they were. It was almost a normal day, well normal for me. I spent the night walking around a neighbourhood looking for the creature that I was being paid to hunt down, you know normal stuff. It had started to become dark out and the street lights were flickering on and off when I sensed something watching me. So I started to creep away to give the illusion that I was scared, that I was it's pray.

It started to follow me, as they always do. It moved towards me, so I gave a jog towards an abandoned building. I heard the footsteps echoing behind me, the chase was on. I managed to make it inside what appeared to be an old hospital. I slammed the door behind me then headed up the stairs.

The doors opened again just as I got to the second floor, so I ran faster. “come out, come out wherever you are” It's voice barked thought the entire building. Then it headed straight for the stairs, somehow they always know how to find me. The stairs flew by as I headed straight up. finally I reached the top, I opened the door that would lead me onto the roof. I run to the edge where the protective cover blocked anybody from falling. The thought went though my mind that this was the perfect place to have a showdown with the creature that was coming up the stairs. Then it appeared though the doorway.

This was one of the ones that looked human at first glance, its only when you see them closer that you start to see just how inhuman they really are. The eyes which glow red, the teeth that are too long and the way the face shows expressions that a humans could never make. “oh, look the little mouse has nowhere to run.” its voice mocked me as it shut the door sealing its fate. It then started to move towards me. In the blink of an eye it was beside me, putting its teeth near my neck. I had every opportunity to stop it from biting me and sucking my blood but I let it anyway. I used to think it was fun watching their expression change as they realized that I wasn't exactly human myself. The fear that then came over them as I moved the blood they had just drunk from me around their body, letting them taste the pain of all the people they had killed before they met me. Then I killed it by making all the blood in its body spike outwards.

Normally that would be the end of my mission, I would call in to my office and they would send someone round to clean up while I went to sleep to get reddy for my next assignment. But something happened that night, something that made me petrified for the first time sense I started being a cleaner..Another creature appeared. Unlike the first this one wasn't human shaped, it didn't look like anything that exists in this world. It seamed to be made of shadows with claws extending from from every angle. It seamed to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It looked like it was reaching out of me. I slashed my wrist to get my blood out f my body, then used it to make a shield between me and that thing.

It was moving though the shadows completely avoiding the little light that was there, and before I knew it had hit my blood shield. I went flying backwards against the protective netting that gave way instantly. I turned my blood shield into a sword then dug it into the hospital wall on the way down to slow myself. As soon as my feet touched the floor I started to run for my life. Then I heard a crash behind me as the thing landed. This time I was running for my life.

I sprinted forwards occasionally glancing over my shoulder to see it still chasing me still moving in the shadows. Then the idea of putting it into the light came into my head. The creature still chasing me I went under a street lamp and stopped running. The creature waited just outside of the light. It just waited, and then the light started to become dimmer until it finally just went out altogether.

At that moment one of the claws cut along my face, and I started to run again. Then I saw a sight of tremendous happiness, the sun had started to rise. Its light crept over me. And I looked at the creature again. It was waiting in the shadows but I could see smoke start to rise from its brife time in the sunlight. I decided that something that dangerous couldn't be allowed to live so I moved towards it.

Just as I got to the edge of the shadows It extended a claw though my stomach, so I grabbed it. I pulled backwards until it was pulled completely into the light, which was when it burst into flames. I held on until it was completely incinerated before calling my office to arrange for a medical team to come and pick me up.
