I never needed you [ON HOLD]

Chapter 1

Mama,

 I never expected this to happen... but it did. I thought this would prepare me for my responsibilities in a way I guess. But...it still hurts. I'll be coming to visit soon to discuss a few things with you and father. I won't be leaving the guild but there are some things that I really need to discuss with you guys.

Lucy sealed the letter with a sigh and turned to Virgo handing her the letter. 

"Be sure this gets to her quickly please?"

Virgo nodded, "Of course princess. punishment?" Lucy chuckled softly and shook her head.

"Not today Virgo." Virgo bowed and left in a flash leaving Lucy alone in her room.

Lucy sighed one the maid spirit left. She went to her little kitchen and made herself a cup of coffee. Once she made it, she walked to her window and rested her free elbow on the edge and looked down at the people going about their day. She breathed in and let out a shaky breath as she recalled the recent events of today...

Half an hour ago

Lucy had just finished having lunch with Cana and Juvia and felt like taking a mission seeing as her rent was soon due. She was thinking about doing a solo mission but when she went to the mission board, all the solo missions were either taken or there weren't any solo missions sent to the guild. Instead,she picked out a job that didn't seem too hard and was perfect for her and the rest of Team Natsu and made her way over to where the others were sitting. 

As she made her way over she noticed that the table had suddenly become quiet which cause her to frown for a moment but she held her bright smile as she sat down next to Gray.

"Hey guys what's up?" she asked. She didn't get a response from any of them. She frowned again but placed the mission form on the table.

"You guys wanna go on this mission. It has good pay for each of us. Plis, my re-" Lucy was cut off by Natsu placing his mug a little roughly against the table.

"Don't...don't say it Lucy" Natsu mumbled but loud enough for Lucy to hear.

"W-What do you mean? I just asked if-"

"Yes I know what you were going to ask Lucy but..." he sighed. "This...us," he said pointing between her and the others, "It isn't working"

"E-Excuse me? What do you mean that this isn't working?" Lucy asked. Erza cleared her throat.

"Lucy we've been talking about this for a while...and...if we wanted to be considered as the strongest team in Fairy Tail and maybe even Fiore...we need to keep the strongest mages in the team" she said with a straight face.

Ouch...

"So what? you guys think I'm a weak link? and wait...you've been thinking about its for a while?" 

"Um...yeah we have...we still care about you Lucy but...we just gotta do what's best for the team," Gray said hoping she would understand.

"But I'm not weak!" Lucy snapped, "I am strong. I've always been strong"

"No you haven't Lucy" Erza shot back sternly, "yes, you may have improved since you joined, but it's still not up to standard. If this were Sabertooth, you never would have made it into the guild"

Lucy ignored the twinge of pain in her chest, "don't bring Sabertooth into this. They've changed since Sting took over as Master. If anything, you're starting to sound like their old Master"

"There's no need to be snappy just because you cannot handle the truth, Lucy," Gray sighed.

Lucy scoffed, "for people who say that they till love and care for me, you sure don't sound like you do. Your demeanour tells me that you don't care at all about how I'm feeling about this sudden decision!"

"But we do care about you Lucy" Natsu hugged, "but we also have to think about ourselves and our future"

"In order to be great, we can't have anything to hold us back. We love you, Lucy, we really do, but this is important to us. You must understand" said Erza

Lucy pursed her like and started at the team she thought were her friends. She couldn't believe the words coming out of their mouths. It was so unexpected. But their aim seemed to have sunk into her head and she just scowled at them and clenched her fists.

"Oh I understand alright," Lucy said through her teeth as she stood up from her seat. "You guys seem to care more about your image than the person your clearly kicking off the Team's feelings."

"Lu-" Natsu started but she held up her hand

"But you know what it's fine. she tightened her jaw and held back her tears. "I can make it on my own without you...or anyone else for that matter. In fact...I'll become the greatest mage. Better than you guys" She declared

"Are you serious?" Ezra asked looking a little shocked at Lucy's outburst

"Damn straight I am. You don't know what you've lost" and with that Lucy began to walk away from them.

"But...you need us, Lucy" 

Lucy stood from her seat and looked dead in his eyes causing him and the other to shiver as Lucy chuckled.

"I never needed you"
