On a barstool like a damn fool
Hoping she won't think I'm too much older
Just another come on line
To a girl like you in a place like this
And on the dance floor wanting so much more
I crossed that line and got that cold shoulder
You probably think I'm full of it
But I don't think you'll ever find such emptiness
This heart of mine is just looking for
A heart like mine who's just looking for what it can find
Still looking for a heart like mine~Clint Black, A Heart Like Mine
Melissa shook her head. "Oh, I'm not sticking around here for this, if that's what they're thinking."
With that, she gave Hawk a combination of a wink and her best 'come and get me' grin before turning around and taking off down the hall to the computer lab; about two weeks ago, before school had started, Moon had made sure to forewarn her about the computer lab being a good hiding spot for her to use, just in case something like this was going to happen.
And the way I figure it, now's definitely a good time for me to put that theory into practice.
Initially Hawk was partly puzzled at Melissa's 'come and get me' grin (which he and Tory had seen her use more than once on someone, and had secretly taken a liking to ever since), as well as partly surprised along with Mr. Palmer, Doug and Mr. Palmer's colleague when she made the remark about figuratively taking matters into her own hands before making the "beatdown" gesture (which was also referred to as "pounding the fist" sometimes).
But when she turned and took off running, he couldn't help letting his trademark smirk slither across his face in a snake-like fashion, and took that as his cue to take off after her, as he'd had a hunch about where she was going.
And in this case, it seems my intuition is correct. Oh, Melissa, my dear... you're going to wish you never dared to challenge me like that.
