next door neighbors

Jules pov

"Jules"

I woke up to the sound of my mother calling my name from downstairs. "yes" I call back to my mom as I make my way downstairs.

"hurry up and get dressed our new neighbors just got here, let's go greet them I heard they have a kid your age maybe you can see if they need help unpacking.

"ok," I say running back upstairs to my bedroom to hurry and make myself look presentable. After putting on a simple but cute sundress, curling my hair, and putting on my mascara I come downstairs to see my mom holding a small gift basket.

"I just went to the store while you were getting ready and picked out some things to make a gift basket, I hope they like it."

"I'm sure they will, it looks nice, and plus your best at gift-giving." we walk to the next-door  house and I ring the doorbell a guy who seems to be my age opens the door and calls for his mom

" mooooom some people are here at the door I think they're our neighbors."

" Well don't stand there, let them in,"  his mom says as she comes to the door. "hi my name is Casey and this is my son ace," she says with a warm smile.

" I'm Laura and this is my daughter Jules and here's a little welcoming gift for the family," she says as she hands Casey the gift basket.

" Thank you," she says happily. 

" Is this your whole family?" my mom asked curiously

" yes I'm a single mom"

"really so am I, I think I just found my new best friend." She jokes. "By the way, if you need any help unloading your stuff Jules can help."

"perfect we would love the extra help."

"ok bye sweetie ill be running a few errands while your helping call me if you need anything."

" ok bye, love you."

"we're pretty much done, we just have a few more boxes that go in ace's room, I'm going to sit back and let you youngsters handle that."

After a while, we finally finished bringing in all the boxes and unpacking.

"Come on let's hang out in my room until your mom gets back."

I watched as he sat on his bed I awkwardly stood in the middle of the room not knowing what to do. he stared at me for a few seconds before saying.

"Are you going to stand there the whole time or are you going to take a seat," he says patting a spot next to him.

I  take a seat on the very edge of the bed using all the strength from my one butt cheek to stop me from slipping off while still trying to look normal. I look at him and he's still staring at me in an odd manner.

" Come on now I don't bite," he says with a smirk as he picks me up and sits me next to him.

We were so close that I could feel our legs touching I try to. avoid it and ask him a question. "So are you going to be going to greenwood high school?"
