2 years..............That's how long it had been since Ariel had discovered that she was a Witch.
Now 13 years old , Ariel Black sat at the edge of the small lake in the woods near the orphanage , her legs dipping into the water that was cold, despite the warm weather . She closed her eyes , inhaling the scent of the small flowers and earth surrounding her . A warm breeze was blowing , ruffling the leaves of bushes and trees . The sun was slowly setting , the sky a brilliant colour of faint orange and pink . A few stars were already twinkling in the sky, smiling down at Ariel . The outline of the almost full moon was visible , shining a pretty silver colour . Clouds were scattered along the sky , creating patterns . Birds were chirping in the distance , flying through the sky - heading home .
A subconscious smile made way on Ariel's face , the rays of the sun highlighting her beautiful features . Her thick black lashes rested against her pale upper cheeks . Her pink but dry lips curved , her hair blowing behind her in the breeze . She felt calm , truly calm after many days.
Today was her birthday , Her thirteenth Birthday . She smiled , remembering all the wishes her friends had given her before they left King Cross station , back to their separate ways . Her Friends- Leonard and Vedika had sent her letters and gifts on her previous birthday during the Summer vacation before their second year . However , The Matron didn't like 'freaky' birds in the Orphanage and had shooed them immediately , also punishing Ariel . Since then - her friends couldn't send her letters and both her and her friends felt sad about it . As for the gifts - They had a no gift rule . Because Ariel's friends sent her gifts and she felt bad because she had no money to by them birthday or Christmas gifts in return . Leonard and Vedika had agreed , but not before sneaking in some food and candies into her bag , which Ariel was oblivious about . When Ariel had found those cakes and candies , she had thought that they were from her friends - but she dismissed the idea , thinking that they won't break their promise . She kept them anyway , thinking that they were probably from her saved stock .
Ariel opened her eyes , looking at the sky which was now a hue of pale pink and light purple . The stars were all out , their silver twinkling in the night sky . The moon was shining majestically - reflecting against the waves of the lake , making it appear as if dancing . She looked at the stars, who smiled at her . Ariel smiled back and began telling them about her school , something she had done millions of times , but the stars never minded , they always listened to her. She recalled her memories , some funny and some nice ones .
Flashback
It was a warm sunny morning at Hogwarts , Children sat - chatting and laughing in the courtyard . Ariel was sitting with Leonard , listening to him ramble about how First years should be allowed to try out for Quidditch . Vedika was.......in detention for changing the colour of poor Flitwick's robes. Ariel was also with her to pull the prank , but only Vedika had got caught because when they were returning , Ariel was in the lead and Vedika - due to her clumsiness had knocked down a suit of armor that blocked her path. Ariel had tried to pull in up but ended up underneath it , hiding her small frame from view. At the same moment , Filch came running due to the noise, but he only spotted Vedika , because Ariel was inside the suit of Armor. Ariel had apologized to Vedika many times for her detention , but Vedika had shrugged it off saying that it was all due to her clumsiness.
