You could tell something was wrong with Yves as soon as she walked through the door.

There was this sad look in her eyes and she dragged her feet through the door, a small frown on her lips that replaced her usually bright smile that you absolutely adore.

"Yves? Baby, are you okay?" You asked as you watched her stare down at her feet as she kicked off her shoes.

Your quiet and soft voice made her head lift. Her heart fluttered in her chest at the small smile you sent her when your eyes met.

Even after a long and difficult day, you still know how to make her smile.

"I'm okay." She said and forced a smile, but it only looked small and sad.

You wordlessly stood up and made your way to her. You brought her into your arms and let your hand gently run along her back in circles, gently pressing your nails into her skin just the way she likes. You felt her smile against your neck, where she buried her face and breathed in your comforting smell.

"I know you're not okay." You whispered softly and she breathed a heavy sigh against your neck.

There in that moment with you, as you rubbed her back and whispered comforting words in her ear, she felt all the stress and all the emotions she's bottled up inside beginning to get the best of her, making tears well up in her eyes. She blinked them away and clung to you a little tighter, finding inexpressible comfort in your warm embrace that she couldn't ever find anywhere else.

"It's okay to feel that way. It's alright to feel bad. You don't have to pretend with me, you know that."

"I know." She whispered.

"I'm sorry your day was rough, but you're home now. You're safe right here with me." You said and pressed a lingering kiss to her head. "Tell me what I can do to make you feel better."

"You're already making me feel better." She said and cracked a tiny, but genuine, smile against your neck. "Your hugs are making me feel so much better."

"Well, in that case," you paused and started to walk back to the couch with her wrapped securely in your arms and you felt her laugh against your neck. "I just won't ever let you go."

You fell onto the couch and pulled her onto your lap. She dropped her forehead to your shoulder and let her lips brush lovingly against your skin before she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Can't say I'd complain about that."

You chuckled, staring down at her with stars in your eyes. They caused her heart to skip a beat when she noticed them.

"I really am sorry your day wasn't good. Tomorrow will be better."

"I hope so." She replied before she moved and stole a kiss from your lips.

"Either way, I'll be right here to make it better." You smiled, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "I love you, Yves."

"I love you too, sweet girl." She said and kissed you once more before she held you a little tighter and laid her cheek on your shoulder, wishing that neither of you ever had to let each other go.
