Letter from Atlas to Étole:
23rd February, 39000th moon
My dearest Étole,
To tell you I had never been happier when I received your letter in reply would be an understatement! I don't think I've felt such joy since you came to visit me all those moons ago! It is unfortunate how long the postal service takes, but we must be thankful that our letters are being sent at all. I have some friends who reside in a fort near ground level, and they get their letters once every 6 moons (if they're lucky)! But oh, I am so pleased to hear from you. When reading your letter I could almost hear your voice! Especially in that comment about the mushrooms, I have not tried a fort mushroom, but from the way you described them they do not sound very pleasant!
You must not worry about me and the crane, I always knew in my heart that you would have joined me if you could. It's an awful shame that the Citadel advertised them as an escape for everyone, but I'm sure they had their reasons. I still find it unfair, but at least we can communicate with each other through letters! That leads me to your second question, 'can we stay in contact?' Of course! I would love nothing more!
That reminds me! The crane stops at Puternick for a few days in winter so we can most likely see each other! I am beyond excited!
Sincerely, your sentimental friend, Atlas Greenwich
Ps; enclosed are some mushrooms from my farm! I have dried them out so they are not ruined by the time you receive them, but hopefully the flavour remains!
