Zipper returns us home and shits back to me and I sit at my desk a few minutes. So from what I just learned while technically Divante was immune, it might not remain that way. However changelings are so rare and not understood that it could still be possible that she is the only truly immune person top this disease. I could sense Zipper nodding his head, well at least we agreed. Best I go tell Locklan about this I'm sure Simon already informed either mom or dad about it.

I head out to the fireproof section of yard that granddad had created for Locklan to use for his meditations. Fireproof because granddad somehow 'borrowed' a piece of the demon realm's land and swapped it for this one twenty by twenty foot square in the yard, that way if Locklan lost control while he was working on something he didn't set fire to the woods.

After seeing some of Locklan's errors I was glad for it. Simli and Lupus were already on the edge of the square watching their older brother. Who at this moment was levitating upside down while etching the ground in a complicated pattern while chanting something in Aramaic. I looked the sigil, because that is what it was and comment. "Won't that just annoy Granddad?" Locklan smiles without braking cadence and finishes the piece he was working on before responding. "Well he offered to help me work on all of my skills what better for a young sorcerer than to summon a not quite high ranked demon?"

I hear a chuckle in the wind, while it amuses me that you are attempting something so complicated. You have an inscription error and I'm not telling you where so you better have the twins go else where before you try to summon anything in that circle. I crack up laughing as Locklan looks over his sigil furiously trying to find the error. I look up at him, "hey at least he told you there was an error." Locklan pauses a moment looking over at the twins, "you two go and help mom with breakfast. Tell her we'll get there once we find out what I did wrong and fix it." The twins look crestfallen and I point out, "if granddad thinks you need to not be near this when he activates it. It is most likely too dangerous for you seeing as how you cannot shit yet." Locklan nods his head in agreement as he looks over the sigil again.

Locklan comments before returning to the etching, "you're right at least he warned me. Though I have a feeling it was just as a precaution for the safety of the twins." I nod my head as I watch him etch the last bit of the pattern again chanting in Aramaic. Once he completes the pattern he turns upright and floats down to the ground next to me and Midnight appears from just inside the woods. Locklan's familiar looks over the pattern and gives the young man a looks.

Locklan comments, "yes granddad already said it wouldn't summon him and he wouldn't tell me where the error was." I hear Midnight chuckle, that is because as you gain ability you need to be able to 'handle' anything you create or do even when you make a mistake. This one might be rather amusing. I did notice Zipper was being very quiet and we all know that cats only get quiet when they are plotting evil things. I near a mental snort, a mere cat am I? Maybe to show you the fun of having just a 'cat' I should shred your favorite book next time I am out. I chuckle in response to his threat, as it was just a veiled threat as my favorite book is also his favorite.

Locklan raises his hand into the air and I could feel him focusing his magic at the sigil, and I can see the color of his magic and can almost taste it in the wind. Yes, that is how a familiar senses magic. To us it is an all encompassing experience, and you are about to 'spot' his error. I didn't at first understand what he meant until I focuses on the sigil and noticed that the color from his magic slowly filled the sigil coloring it slowly with his magic. Zipper was right I could spot the error, one; just one of the images traced within the sigil was blood red in color. Not the gentle blue his magic was normally.

Once the sigil filled up with color we suddenly got a feeling of dread and something started to form inside of it. The form briefly looked like a wolf then shifted to a giant flame. Midnight comments, congratulations Locklan you summoned an elemental flame wolf. Instead of summoning the Lord of Demon wolves. It still amazed me that even though granddad was a demon Lord he was still considered not high ranked.

I notice the flame wolf was flickering, was it laughing at Locklan? Ah a child attempting to learn demon summoning and when he thought he called for a family member he calls me instead. The flames take the form of a wolf again. I will let it go this time because you have amused me, but if you do so again I will take something of yours. The flame wolf then vanishes, obviously the creature cannot be held by such a sigil. Maybe it was the power level of the person who created it?

Midnight looks concerned then, you cannot attempt this again unless you are positive you have the correct symbol. I have it on good authority that is he comes back, and it is a him. You will piss off Nancy. I thought that over a few minutes, Midnight made a point to say mom would be pissed and granddad did not want the twins here. Midnight also made a major effort to say it was a male. Did that mean he would 'take' Lupus away if Locklan accidentally summoned him again?

Locklan rubs the back of his neck, "I guess this means it's back to memorizing. Well shall we go and eat? I won't have any power leakage for a while now, that required a 'sacrifice' of power. Granddad said it was the simplest summoning sigil, and made a point to say if I did make an error it would not be dangerous." I chuckle, "well I guess that depends on what you consider dangerous. If I am right the wolf won't harm Lupus, but mom would be very angry." Locklan has a curious look on his face, "do you think that her?" I nod my head, and it lead to an odd question for Zipper. "Are the spirit animals actual flesh and blood to an extent?" Zipper responds broadly so that Locklan can hear, yes they have a physical form. What that sigil did was summon his spirit, he was not physically here. You know this because if he arrived in his flame form the air temperature would have risen quite a bit.

Locklan shakes his head, "yeah I guess you're right about depends on your opinion of 'dangerous'. It also explains why he made that spot fire proof." I nod my head and start heading to the kitchen. "As to the illness, it was created using some of the leftover demon blood from the mages who took you as a child." Locklan grabs my arm, "which blood specifically? There was plans to go for," he gets cut off as Midnight intentionally bumps into his back. Don't say his name, first no one is suppose to know that one of his children was killed and very few people know that there is a demon with that name a few people would be upset by it. Also someone with power saying his name out loud will summon him. Your grandfather would get upset for two reasons if that happened.

I had stopped when Locklan grabbed my arm and I nod my head when Midnight makes the statement that he had made. If everyone is dancing around the name I think they are, then granddad would probably get in trouble if his grandson 'accidentally' summoned him because he hadn't known. Zipper comments, see we can give out information freely. I mentally chuckle, as this was more of a saving their own skins because I doubt we'd like for that high demon Lord to appear by accident. Though I imagine that behavior is from the demon side of the familiars, because a familiar will keep their human partner in the dark about something unless it is life or death. Unless the person has the forethought to ask before hand.

I continue with my explanation, "there is a thought that maybe the vampires could be a mixing agent to alter the illness. Dunlight was told to 'inform' Heather about it." Locklan nods his head and we continue on to the kitchen, "translation Dunlight will suggest a connection with vampires." I chuckle as Locklan was accurate with how a familiar gave information, but then again I have one inside me so maybe he's just more aware of it than most people. I just hope that Gale's sister will be alright.
