We enter the kitchen mom was just setting out a platter of pancakes and dad had one filled with bacon. Mom looks over to me and as I sit I tell her what I had found out, she tilts her head and thinks a minute. "Have you considered leaving a message for the tribe to ask the Elders if they have any ideas?" Dad's head shoots up at that suggestion. When the twins were younger and were playing in the yard mom had been sitting under a tree reading something when a stone ax buried itself in the tree next to her head.

All mom did was calmly look at it carefully and nod her head, while dad was livid. Mom told him it was the tribe warning her to not destroy another of the ritual sites. Dad was very angry he had shouted, "how can that be a warning? It went near your head." My mom takes the ax out of the tree then and very calmly states, "they didn't throw it at one of the kids. If they had been angry and it wasn't a warning it would have harmed one of them."

I have learned since then that the tribe is still stone aged in technology but they have their own magics and they don't follow modern laws. It's the tribe that mom's grandmother use to protect. They don't really need protecting in this modern era, but they might be interested in this disease.

After filling my plate I ask, "how do I contact them?" Dad doesn't look pleased as he sits down but he nods to mom. She smiles at dad and says, "simple sweety. Go out into the woods and announce you wish to discuss something of importance. Someone or something will respond. In our woods no matter which it will be safe." I nod my head unsure of that but if mom says it, its probably true about them. Your mom's family has been dealing with them for a very long time Greg if that is the best way to talk with them then it most likely is. I mentally nod my head at Zipper and turn to Locklan who had just filled his plate.

"Um on another subject mom, there is an Elemental Flame Wolf who has shown an interest in Lupus." The twins sit up straight in their chairs and dad looks uncomfortable while mom finishes chewing what she had just put into her mouth as she ponders what I said. Locklan looks very embarrassed as well.

Mom sets her fork down and gives Locklan a piercing look, "so is it what ever mistake required the twins to not be present?" Locklan gulps and nods his head, even having spent years living here and being adopted he is still a little afraid of mom. Granted from what both grandad's said dad should be more dangerous.

Dad clears his throat and Grandad appears behind mom, "now relax son." Dad gives the demon a look, who continues to speak. "I think it is mostly harmless, I plan to speak with him myself and find out why he commented the way he did to the boys. At worse it's Lupus's mate yes?" Dad rubs the top of his muzzle as if frustrated, "because we needed that right now. However I guess it could be worse than your daughter having an elemental demon as a Mate."

Grandad looks offended, "hey you make it sound like Demon blood is a bad thing." I mentally roll my eyes and start eating as do the other kids. They might be going at it a few minutes, I watch mom shake her head and tuck back into her plate as dad and grandad argue over weather being part demon is good or not.

About when I estimate we were at the midpoint of the argument the phone rings and mom gets up to answer it. "Oh hi there Mary, are you coming in for a few days to help with the new addition? Great I'm sure Greg and Locklan will love having a chance to see you and the twins probably don't recall the last time you guys visited."

Now me and Locklan both feel uncomfortable as no doubt mom will tell Mrs Smaten all about Locklan's failed attempt at summoning Grandad, and what came after. While it would be nice to see the woman, having her look at you in disappointment was never fun. MR and Mrs Smaten moved to a smaller house in the deep woods to enjoy their retirement with just the two of them once all the girls were out of high school. Mr Doug being the eldest inherited the family home and Mrs Brenda keeps the gardens up just like Mrs Smaten did when I was younger.

When mom gets off the phone I notice Grandad decided to vanish and dad was eating again. Mom sits back down, "well the two of them will be in sometime after noon today. We should probably go over there to lend a hand this after noon." She gives me a look, "that should give you plenty of time to contact someone from the tribe." I sigh hoping she had forgotten as they honestly almost scare me. However if I get Locklan to come with me it might be easier on me.
