AP News springs to life with an article titled, "Massachusetts ferry service slowed by ransomware attack". Similar articles were also put out by Fox News and NBC News based in Boston. The news of the cyberattack was being spread for people gain knowledge of what had happened, but if that was it, most news would be forgotten about fairly quickly. Luckly, there is a place for such events to be stored for people to read years later. That place is Wikipedia. Now that the breaking news sources got their stories and money from clicks, it was time for the community of Wikipedia editors to pick up the story and document the events of the ransomware cyberattack on Steamship Authority so generations to come could read and learn about it.
