A minute after the creation of the article, editor 'Elijahandskip' also created the "talk" page for the Steamship Authority cyberattack Wikipedia article. For those who have no clue what a talk page is, I will explain it.
Every Wikipedia article has a talk page and talk pages are used for a few purposes. First of all, a talk page identifies what 'WikiProjects', aka groups, the article is a part of. The WikiProjects are listed at the top of the talk page, just so every editor can find it easily. The rest of the talk page is used as a way for editors to communicate with each other about the article. Now that you know what talk pages are, I can explain the edit by 'Elijahandskip'.
So editor 'Elijahandskip' added four WikiProjects to the article. Those WikiProjects are, the WikiProject of Current events, the WikiProject of Computing, the WikiProject of Crime, and the WikiProject of United States History. The WikiProject of Current events doesn't give articles a rating based on quality, but the other three WikiProjects do, so 'Elijahandskip' also did a quality rating on the article based on the WikiProjects of Crime, Computing, and United States History's guidlines. All three WikiProjects guidlines all rated the article as a "stub" class, which just means the article is small.
Four minutes after the creation of the article (16:54 UTC), 'Elijahandskip' added the article and a small sentence about the cyberattack to Wikipedia's "Portal of Current events", which covers the past week of the worlds most notable events. The Portal received between 40,000-60,000 daily page views[a], which makes it one of the most viewed placed on Wikipedia. With so many people watching it, information does get challenged often, and the Steamship Authority cyberattack was no different.
Fifteen minutes after editor 'Elijahandskip' added the information about the cyberattack to the Portal of Current events, another Wikipedia editor challenged the notability of the cyberattack. Wikipedia editor 'Alsoriano97', an editor with over 12,000 edits[b], believed the Steamship Authority cyberattack was "unnotable"[c] for the Portal. The revert, aka reversion, by editor 'Alsoriano97' was challenged by Wikipedia editor 'Elijahandskip' six minutes later (17:15 UTC) with the edit summary of "Debatable. Fairly recent after the Colonial Pipeline cyber attack. If you still feel it is not notable, we can discuss on the portals talk page." After 'Elijahandskip' challenged the original reversion by editor 'Alsoriano97', no other conflicts or challenges about the Steam Authority cyberattack arose on the Portal of Current events. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————
