Adira Argent, the girl everyone knew about, a mischievous brunette with a sharp tongue and a protective instinct towards the few that meant a lot to her, like the Pevensie's, the family who lived next door to the girl and her father. Adira Argent was constantly over at the Pevensie's house, the mother of the family adored her wit and sarcasm, and she adored the soft side of the girl that Adira had tried so hard to keep hidden, but could not while she was with the Pevensie children. The Pevensie home was more of a home to her than hers had ever been, with her father drinking himself to sleep everyday, and yelling at the girl whenever she was in his vacinity.

It was 8:17 on a saturday night when the bombs began falling from the sky. Adira and Lucy had stopped playing with the youngest Pevensies dolls and Adira had quickly picked the young girl up in worry.

"Peter! Peter quickly get everyone to the shelter now!" Mrs Pevensie had cried out through the house, Adira didnt wait for the blonde boy, instead she held Lucy tightly to her chest and quickly ran down the stairs of the house and out into the back yard straight into the bomb shelter, she put Lucy down quickly and carefully, the girl was hugging a doll tightly to her chest as she cried in fear

"wait here Lucy, i'm going to help the others!" Adira told her quickly and didnt wait for a reply as she ran straight back towards the house, loud bombs echoed around her as the hunks of metal smashed into surrounding houses.

She ran into the house and straight back up the stairs and found everyone running around frantically, "come on, get to the shelter, i've already got Lucy in there" Adira told the family quickly and they all nodded and quickly ran back down the stairs of the home and out into the back yard, over towards the shelter where they all began to pile in

"wait dad!" Edmund suddenly cried out

"edmund!" Peter yelloud out angrily, his voice filled with worry

"Edmund no!" Mrs Pevensie cried out for her son, Adira ran after him as he ran into the house

"Ed, what are you doing?" She yelled to her best friend in worry as she ran up the stairs after him, with Peter Pevensie hot on her trail

The ringing got louder, signalling a bomb was about to land near them, Edmund grabbed a picture of his dad quickly and Adira jumped forward and wrapped her arms around the boy, sheilding him with her body as a bomb hit the ground next door, shattering the windows, glass rained down on top of them. Adira stood up  slowly in realisation as she looked to the house next to her through the glassless window, the house was destroyed and on fire, tears slipped from her eyes as she entered a trance.

Edmund looked at the girl sadly and went to pull her in for a hug but Peter ran over and grabbed both of the children and threw the frozen like girl over his shoulder and dragged Edmund by his sleeve. "Come on you idiot, run" Peter yelled at his brother and the two boys ran down the stairs of the home and back to the shelter.

Peter threw his brother in and then ran in and slammed the shelter door shut behind him, "why cant you think of anyone but yourself? You are so selfish!" Peter yelled towards his brother angrily and sat the girl down next to Lucy, though nobody noticed how Adira was acting because they were too preoccupied with the argument between the two brothers. "You could have got us killed! You almost got Adira killed!" Peter continued angrily

"stop it," Mrs Pevensie suddenly exclaimed and then pulled the younger brother in for a hug, "its okay"

"why can't you just do as you are told?" Peter asks him with an exasperated look on his face as he shook his head

Lucy finally noticed the teary girls blank face as she stared at the air in front of her, "Adira? Adira whats wrong?" Lucy asked in worry for the girl that she looked up too

Everyones attention turned towards the girl quickly, tears ran down her face, but there wasnt an ounce of emotion on her face, "my home... Its gone" and finally she let out a choked sob "My dad" Edmund had pulled free of his mothers grip and made his way over to his best friend and he pulled her in for a hug, her small frame softly racked with sobs as he held her against his chest. Nobody had ever seen the girl cry before, and it was not only an odd experience to witness, it was heartbreaking

"Sweetheart..." Mrs Pevensie muttered out softly "im so so sorry"

--------------------------------------------------------------

The train whistle blowed loudly as smoke wafted through the station, the chatter of people around them was overcome by the lady on the loud speaker calling out different times for departure.

Edmund stuck close to the Argent girl, constantly looking over at her as if making sure that she was alright. They stopped as they were handed their tags. "You need to keep this on darling, alright?" Mrs Pevensie told lucy as she clipped the youngest girls tag onto the front of her dress, the others then clipped on their own tags "you warm enough?" Lucy nodded softly, "good girl"

"if dad were here, he wouldnt make us go" Edmund suddenly spat out sourly, not liking the idea of being taken away from his home, though he was grateful that he wasnt being separted from the Argent girl.

"If dad were here, it would mean the war was over and we wouldnt have to go" Peter fired back angrily, Adira turned her attention to the older boy, "Its okay Pete" the girl muttered to him softly, trying to calm the older brother down so he would ease off on Edmund

"You will listen to your brother wont you Edmund?" Mrs Pevensie asked the boy, but he didnt reply. The woman stood up and hugged him and went to kiss him on the cheek, but the boy let a look of disgust cross his cheeks as he purposefully flinched away from the woman, which clearly upset the mother.

"Dont worry Mrs Pevensie, i'll make sure he behaves" Adira says and gives the woman a small smile. Mrs Pevensie smiles down at the girl with a sympathetic look on her face as she pulls her in for a hug "Take care of yourself adira, youre a good person and dont let anyone make you think otherwise. And look after Edmund wont you? You are the only one that he listens too"

"Thank you" the girl whispered softly as the mother pulled away from her and gave her a small smile and nod before moving onto hug Peter and then lastly, she hugged susan. They were called for their train, the whistle blew loudly, signifying that it was now time for them to get onto the train and leave

"alright, off you go" Mrs Pevensie said and stood back, offering the children a smile

"all aboard, please get aboard now" The conductor called out to all of the children at the station who were fleeing to get away from the war

Adira grabbed Lucys hand in her own and then grabbed Edmunds and they began to walk, Edmund felt his cheeks warm up as the girl grabbed onto his hand but then suddenly, his sister grabbed onto his other hand "Hey get off! I know how to get onto a train by myself! Get off me!" Edmund complained to his sister, but she ignored him and continued to drag him through the sea of people, the Pevensies and the Argent girl stayed close as they walked through the station towards their train

"come along this way" the men commanded them as they led them to the entrance of the train. Suddenly Lucy stopped, causing Adira to stop and for Adiras hand to be disconected with edmunds as Susan continued to pull him away.

"Come on Lucy, we have to stick together now. Everything is going to be alright" Adira whispered to the girl who suddenly began to cry, Adira pulled the girl into her chest and then picked her up in her arms, Lucys legs went around Adiras waist and her arms went around her neck as the young girl cried into Adiras shoulder "its going to be okay Loo, I promise alright?" Adira whispered softly and then walked over to the others quickly and onto the train.

The doors were shut and the train began to move, the five of them stuck their heads out of the window of the train and waved to Mrs Pevensie, bidding her farewell
