IT TOOK LESS THAN AN hour for Koushi to arrive, out of breath and cheeks rosy from the cold Y/N assumed was raging outside of the controlled confines of the hospital.

He stumbled in the doorway when he saw her, needing a moment to comprehend just how close his friend was to the lip of death.

His friend. She was dying, because she was his friend.

The tears that began to well in his eyes didn't go unnoticed by Y/N, immediately felt a guilty stab of regret at forcing him to come here and see her like this. All she'd known was the pain she was feeling - she's selfishly ignored the pain he might feel as well.

"I'm sorry." She took the greatest effort to push the words past her cracked lips. "You- I shouldn't have- I'm sorry. You don't have to-"

Just like that, all the apprehension and pain melted from Koushi's face, instead replaced by a smile. Not one of his happy grins, nor even one intended to be reassuring, but rather one that let her know ...

"I'm here," he said, crossing the room to stand by her side. "Don't worry, I'm not leaving."

How? Y/N thought, as she mustered the strength to give him a smile in return. How are you so easy to love?
