Two days later
Gauri had gone from counting days to counting hours. In forty-eight hours, her husband would be back home. She had a silly smile on her face since morning, that Ishana even asked her if Omkara was already back. Gauri had only chuckled, saying that it would take another two days, and Ishana had teased her if she would be taking an off to 'spend time' time with him as soon as he came back. Gauri, knowing exactly what she meant, had blushed to beet red and had changed the topic while the latter laughed.
Gauri's mood and spirits had been lifted drastically that even right now, while seated in a boring team meeting where Krishna was discussing the team's targets for the next three months, she had zoned out in her own thoughts.
Gauri somehow felt in the last two days, that something had definitely changed between her and her Oberoi. Ever since that sleepy conversation she'd had with him that night, he seemed to be super-sweet and super-cheery with her. She wondered what could be the reason; not that she was complaining. She loved talking to him, listening to him. She missed everything about him. These four days were like four long eternities without him by her side. Everytime she missed him, she recalled the poem he whispered to her just before he left. It always gave her goosebumps. And then, everytime he video-called her, especially in the last two days, he would give her a look of longing, something she was sure was reflected in her eyes too. Oh, she couldn't wait to have him back.
Then, there were ither thoughts plaguing her too. Thoughts that caused a different kind of ache in her. Gauri had always read in her romance novels about lovemaking being a wonderful feeling, and no doubt she was dying to know more about it. But she had also come to realize that intimacy was more important in a relationship, which was way beyond just peeling off each other's clothes. Being with Omkara had helped her realize that while she was majorly attracted to him, she also had established an emotional intimacy with him. True that they had been best friends, but now something had changed between them. Now, there was a different intimacy. It was only now she realized that she could still feel the touch of his hand, the scent of him, the expressions of his face, even if he was halfway across the globe. Her thoughts sounded too filmy to her own mind, but she couldn't help sigh at how her heart was linked to his, her soul was intertwined with his, even if he was far away. She sneakily looked at her watched and realized he must be waking up in the morning right now.
That took her mind to all the morning hugs she shared with him. She loved waking up in his arms, and now, in the last four days, she missed it all so terribly. She smiled to herself thinking about the physical comfort they shared; not to forget his playful side too. He had no qualms admitting he loved to kiss her. The first time he'd said it, she thought he was joking. It was only when he actually kissed her, did she realize he wasn't kidding. But they kept it only to chaste brushing of the lips after that one kiss where she'd demanded to be kissed deeper. Well, that, except that there was yet another unintentional heated moment in the kitchen just two days before he left for Germany.

Gauri had been setting the fruits that they'd bought from the supermarket into the fridge. She had been holding a basket of apples, and Omkara thought it would be fun to sneak up on her and tickle her from behind. He had almost succeeded in quietly gaining on her when she unexpectedly dropped an apple down and quickly bent down to pick it up. Not realizing he was standing right behind her as she bent, Gauri's derriere had bumped right into his crotch, and his hands had instantly and instinctively flown to her hips to hold her suddenly. Gauri had frozen for a second before she had pulled away, straightened up, and turned around to stare at him. "What were you- " she had abruptly stopped talking when she'd seen his hooded eyes drop to her lips and then back to meet her eyes.
