Taehyung had gotten up extremely early the next day to prepare. When he came downstairs, Jungkook was already eating breakfast at the table.
"Morning!" He chirped happily before pouring out cereal into the bowl. "Morning." Jungkook said in a dull voice. "Why are you so down?" Taehyung asked as he put a spoonful of cereal into his mouth. "Nothing." He shrugged before focusing on his breakfast.
"Come on, Jungkook. You have something on your mind, tell me what it is." He encouraged and Jungkook shook his head, not wanting to spoil Taehyung's mood.
Truth to be told, he had been greatly affected by Jihyun's return. Her return had made him face the feelings he had for her which had been tucked away at the bottom of his heart resurface again. Nevertheless, she didn't seem like the old Jihyun anymore, and he knew he was the main cause of it. He wanted to make it up to her, but he didn't know where to begin - there were too many unresolved issues between them.
"Enough about me, what's up with you today? You look extra chirpy." He tried to change the subject and Taehyung let out a broad grin, "I'm going out in a bit."
"Wow, Kim Taehyung is actually stepping out of his house to meet someone! Who's the lucky girl?" He teased, as Taehyung had mostly spent his time in the dorm during his off days. "Do you remember Jihyun, the girl who interviewed us the other day?"
No way.
"W-what about her?" Jungkook stuttered nervously, waiting for the answer. "I haven't told anyone this before... but she was my first love." He said shyly and Jungkook dropped his spoon in shock. "What?" He asked softly as his face whitened. "Yeah, she had someone in her life at that time. But I think it's going to be different this time, us meeting again seemed like fate. I'm excited to see how things go." He smiled happily as he continued eating his cereal.
Jungkook continued gaping at his answer, but Taehyung seemed too happy to notice the younger's reaction. "By the way, Jungkook, how did you know her before? She was crying so badly that day after I left her to talk to you. Did it have something to do with you?" He questioned and Jungkook's heart sank. She was crying?
He had thought that she didn't want to have anything to do with him, nor did she care about him anymore. Little did he know that he was the reason for her tears, again. "We used to be friends..." That was all he could gather before losing himself in his thoughts.
"That's such a coincidence! The atmosphere was so intense that day, I thought you two were enemies. Well since you both are friends, I guess her crying didn't have anything to do with you then. I'll check in with her later." He said as he finished up his cereal quickly.
"You are leaving so early?" Jungkook snapped out of his thoughts as he saw Taehyung approaching the door, "I'm picking up some flowers at the store!" He beamed before wearing his shoes, "Bye Jungkook!"
Jungkook sighed audibly into the silent air. Sunflowers are her favourite, Taehyung.
Stepping into the flower shop, Taehyung was at a loss of what to buy. He didn't know what had gotten into him that morning, but he wanted to get some flowers for Jihyun as a gesture, and also to make her happy. The thing was, he had never bought any flowers for any girl before - Jihyun was the first.
Walking through the store in his all-black disguise, he approached the old lady at the counter for help. "Looking for something?" She asked kindly while Taehyung nodded. "I'm looking for flowers for a beautiful girl, but I don't know what to get." The lady smiled in return and asked instead, "Well, what does she mean to you, and what does she remind you of?"
He thought about the memories they had shared together. "She's a very genuine and kind-hearted person... She exudes positivity and happiness to everyone she meets - and I am thankful for all the happy moments she has brought into my life." He said with a small and shy smile on his face. The lady didn't speak and merely grinned as she went around the stores to assemble a bouquet of flowers.
