"Running in circles, coming up tails
Heads on a science apart
Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard."

Taehyung was on his lunch break, which wasn't really a break since he was hastily studying the profile of a newly arrived patient, but it was better than nothing.

He was currently on his third onigiri when someone plopped onto the chair ahead of him with the loudest sigh ever. Taehyung could recognize that voice even without looking up.

"Did Doctor Min scold you again?" Taehyung joked, finally deciding to take a look at the man on the opposite side of the table.

He was met with the familiar sight of a pouting Park Jimin, one of the residents he and Yoongi were in charge of. Despite being merely a resident, Jimin was one of the most talented and intelligent people Taehyung's ever met, hence the reason he was on Min Yoongi's, and sometimes even his, team. Park Jimin was considered a genius among his colleagues but in front of Taehyung and Yoongi he was merely a younger man who slumped over his smallest mistakes.

And he certainly despised having them called out.

"He didn't scold me." Jimin finally answered, his eyes avoiding Taehyung's because of the embarrassment. "He pointed them out in front of all my colleagues. You know how embarrassed I felt, Mister Kim? I wanted to throw myself out of the window or have the floor eat me alive."

With a roll of his eyes, Taehyung set down his unfinished onigiri, then put the papers aside so that he wouldn't stain them with food.

"Listen, Jimin," after taking his glasses off and massaging the bridge of his nose for a few seconds, Taehyung let out a sigh. "we scold you and point out your smallest mistakes because we trust your skills and we want you to be better, to do better than your other colleagues. Do you see Doctor Min scolding someone else besides you? No, because they're not on his team, nor did they have the opportunity to work with the head of your department during a surgery. You worked with us, Jimin, because we trust your skills. Doctor Min doesn't point out your mistakes to embarrass you, but to help you evolve. You should feel honored."

Jimin's pout softened at that, the resident dropping his head in shame as he played with his fingers.

"I guess you're right." Jimin mumbled, his voice soft as he continued playing with his fingers, his gaze avoiding Taehyung's eyes. "I'm sorry. I should feel honored that someone as good as him is willing to spend so much time on someone like me."

"Exactly. The others are not his responsibility. However, you are. You were chosen to be on his team so be proud of it, alright?" Taehyung smiled towards Jimin, then pushed an unopened onigiri towards the boy. "Next time he scolds you, stand your ground and be proud. He doesn't just go around scolding people, you know? That means he has high expectations of you."

Jimin took the onigiri in his hands with a smile before looking up at Taehyung. "Thank you, Mister Kim. I really don't understand how you can be so positive all the time."

Chuckling softly, Taehyung ruffled Jimin's hair before taking his tray and walking past the boy. He had another surgery scheduled in less than an hour so he needed to prepare himself and also make sure that his team was prepared.

His hands gripped the edge of the sink, a few deep breaths leaving his lips as he stared at his reflection in the fogged mirror. There were dark patches under his eyes but Taehyung was used to that sight already—that wasn't the reason of his disturbed thoughts and furrowed brows. As he stared at his reflection, the doctor couldn't help but tighten his hold on the sink to the point his knuckles started hurting.
