Chapter 3 Two different worlds

1st person POV

I wake up in a bright lit room, I felt like shit my whole body hurts and I felt a bit light headed. I attempt to sit up without hurting myself even more which I hardly succeeded at, I'm on a dark purple couch with a rainbow cover over my legs, my sprained wrist and ankle has bandages on them, I feel my face and I have bandaids on some cuts and bandages around my head where I was bleeding from before.

"Oh your awake" I jump a little from the voice, I look to see a person In front of me they have light brown skin, short brown curly hair with red dye at the tip, they have purple eyes and freckles.

They are holding a glass of water and a pill bottle, I guessed it was painkillers or something.

"You might be confused, my name is Helena me and my friends found you in the woods bleeding out-" Helena said, "you take pills right?" I nod, "good, these are painkillers they should make you feel less pain" they hand me two pills and I put them in my mouth drinking some water to make it go down.

"What's your name, pronouns, and sexuality? If you have the last two-" they said, I look at them for a moment- thinking weather or not I should tell them anything "well ummm- my Pronouns are She/they, and I am pansexual" Helena says, I sit silent for a moment till I find the courage to speak "I- uh- M-my name is Alex, and I-I go by they/them, m-my sexuality is Non binary and Pansexual-" I say internally panicking, "Well nice to meet you Alex!" Helena says.

I hear foot steps coming from beside me "And my name is Kijo!" I jump from the sudden interaction "Kijo!" "Right sorry- I've just been super excited to get to know her!" I cringed as Kijo used the wrong pronouns but it's an honest mistake people make.

"Actually they go by they/them" Helena said, Kijos happy excited face turned into a 'I feel bad' look "Oh my god- I am so sorry!" Kijo said, before I could say "it's okay" Kijo begins to repeat the sentence with the correct pronouns "I've just been super excited to get to know THEM!" Kijo said "It was o-" I begin to say but Kijo interrupted me "I also go by He/him and I am straight alley!"

I wait for a moment before speaking "It was okay-" I said quietly, I was confused about him being excited to meet me or both of them even wanting to talk to me. Usually people would ignore me but they didn't and I don't know why.

"Hey Kijo where's pepper?" Helena said, Kijo looked like he was thinking for a moment "Im right here" a quiet voice said from I believe the kitchen. "In the kitchen." Kijo said "Wow I had 'No' idea" Helena said clearly being sarcastic.

A short blonde headed person walked in holding a bowl of fruits, their hair covered most of their face but I could see they had many freckles and bright blue eyes. "Hey pepper meet uhhh-" "Alex" I said finishing Kijos sentence, "N-nice to m-meet you A-Alex" Pepper said in the shyest and nicest voice "My N-Name is P-Pepper".

"Pepper goes by they/it and pepper, Alex here goes by They/Them" Helena said, Pepper and I nodded in reply. "So how'd you get hurt anyway?" Kijo asked, i thought for a moment trying to remember what happened before I blacked out. "I-I uhh- F-Fell-" I said "Okay...from where?" Kijo asked "...I was walking through the woods and I fell into a hole and landed through trees hitting the ground-"

i answered. "Ooo- Ouch-" Kijo says "Wait a minute...What species are you?" Helena asked suspiciously "Uhhh? H-Human" I say, All three of them looked shocked "Oh no- You didn't fall through any ordinary hole Alex-" Helena said with a worried tone in their voice

"What do you mean?..." I said starting to get worried "That hole was a portal that leads to our world-" Helena said "There's only one possible way of getting back to your world but-" Helena goes silent for a moment "It's in the dangerous part of this world...where nobody has been in generations.." "Why?..." I question, they look at me for a moment "Because a dangerous being chased everyone out of it" Helena answers

"Yeah! I hear it's a person who can turn into a huge dragon! They sounds super cool!!!" Kijo says full of excitement, Helena and pepper stare at him with a 'Not a good time' look. "Right sorry-" he says awkwardly.

"So...what next?" I say "Well-" Helena begins but gets interrupted by Kijo "We'll give you a tour of the world!!!" "Maybe that isn't-" Helena begins "T-That s-sounds fun.." pepper says "See pepper likes the idea! Come on Helena please???!" Kijo says giving Helena puppy dog eyes, they sigh

"Fine" Helena says "Yay!! Come on Alex you'll fall in love with this place!" Kijo a says grabbing my hand pulling me up, I can stand on my ankle just fine I've sprained it too many times I've learned to deal with it.

"Okay but we'll need to find a way to bring them home Kijo!" Helena says "Yeah, Yeah I know!" Kijo says. Looks like my life just got a whole lot more interesting, and I couldn't be happier that I finally have people who seem to get me.

But I already know soon I'll have to say goodbye...

and I don't think I'm ready for that.
