Heartless Love

prologue

I couldn't sleep I kept having this vivid nightmare of Lloyd it's the same one I kept having for two months now. In the dream it's dark I really can't see much but in the dream I see Lloyd he waves and give me a signal to follow him down this dark dingy road and as I'm following him I lose track of him calling out his name constantly as he calls out mine then I hear a loud voice screaming..Don't come any closer !! Then there's a sound of rambling like a fight is breaking down then a loud thud .. I scream Lloyds name but there is no response. I wake up as sweat is dripping down my face I really don't understand why I keep having this same nightmare and it involves my dear friend that I've known my entire life. Me and Lloyd basically grew up tight together he looked at me as if I'm his little sister,even though he has one so I guess I'm like his second sister . I hopped out the bed going straight towards the bathroom grabbing a towel off the door to wipe the pouring sweat off my face . There was a loud banging at the door .."Give me a Minute'' I shouted putting on my housecoat. I walked to door the opening it to see Lloyds brother Che' his eyes and face blood shot red as if he had been crying " Che what's wrong?" I said ..He took a minute "It's Lloyd....he's dead he said as his voice broke. My eyes and mouth got wide as I fell to the floor I couldn't believe it and it's crazy because I had just talked to him a week ago on the phone and he seemed so much better than he was and sounded so much better. He told me on the phone that when he got out of prison he had so much to look forward to he even told me he had written a script about his whole life living in the hood. Che helped me off the floor to the kitchen table as I continued crying " What happened?! " I said curious.. "This can't be true I just talked to him a week ago and he seemed fine " Che looked at me wiping the tears from his face "There was a fight between him and his cell mate thats all I know he said now looking down at the floor . "I gotta fly pelican bay in the morning to get more info about what went down he said . This was just more devastating a couple years back I lost two of my best friends who I were assisting in the entertainment industry and they both lost their lives in a accident eight months apart from each other. When that situation happened Lloyd was there for me he even came to one of their funerals before he got locked up . I remember him placing his hand on my shoulder as I was crying saying "Hey you're strong Nicole you're gonna get through this" I remember looking at him as tears ran down my face then hugging him, he had such a pretty smile and that's what I'm gonna remember and miss the most about him is that uncanny smile he had that no guy could ever have .
