Construction started in 1886-the same year as its opening. The ghosts there aren't all ones who died from sickness. An Irish stone mason named Michel fell to his death, while constructing the building. He died in what is now room 218.
After the hotel's opening, it served as a resort for the Victorian rich and famous. In the early 20th century, it became a woman's college. Then, a women's junior college and conservatory.
One of the students committed suicide from the top balcony. She jumped from the forth floor, and now haunts the balcony from where she jumped. So two ghosts down, 200+ left to go.
The hotel remained vacant for years to come....until "Dr. Baker" came.
