Death hits when you least expect it

Caroline's POV
   I woke up with a headache. I sat up, and was confused as to where I am. I then realized what happened. I came over to Bekah's, and she wasn't here. Klaus was, we drank and talked. He brought me to a room, and I had asked him to stay with me. I looked around, and he isn't in the room.

   The door opened, and he came in with a tray in his hands. He sat the tray on my lap, and said, " This is for you, love."

  There's orange juice, eggs,  toast, and bacon. He handed me two aspirin, and I took them. I said, " You didn't have to do this."

  He said, " Mother insisted."

  I nodded. Esther has been kind to me, especially since I'm getting married. Ugh, I missed dinner, last night.

   I ate, and Klaus left the room with the tray, after I was done. I got up, and put on my shoes, and went downstairs. Bekah is standing there in the foyer, and she hugged me.

  I said, " I'm sorry about the wedding. I wanted yous to be there."

  She said, " It's not your doing. Don't worry about it."

   I said, " Are you sure?"

  She said, " Yeah. Want to go for a swim?"

  I said, " I don't have any of my swim suits here."

  She said, " Yes, you do. From a month ago. We had the sleepover, and I told you to leave the suit here in case you stay over and want to go swimming."

  I nodded, and we went upstairs to her room. We changed into our suits. Mine is a red and white polka dot two piece, Rebekah's is a green two piece. We went downstairs and out the back door. Rebekah got in the pool, and I laid down on the lawn chair.

     Thirty minutes later, I was being picked up, and thrown into the pool. I came up from the water, and there is Klaus laughing. I said, " It's not funny."

  He said, " It kinda is, love."

  I rolled my eyes, and Rebekah got out of the pool, and went to talk to Klaus. I sat on the side of the pool, and enjoyed the sun.

Klaus's POV
      Rebekah pulled me off to the side, and over by the patio. I said, " What is it, Bekah?"

  She said, " Tell her how you feel."

  I said, " I can't. She's engaged."

  She said, " You and I both know she doesn't love Tyler. She's just doing this because her mother set it up. Tell her how you feel."

  I said, " What if she only wants to be friends?"

  She said, " Nik, I've seen the way she is around you. She adores you, Nik. Why do you think you are the only one she comes to when something major happens? Remember when Tyler stood her up at the prom? She came here to you. You both stayed here, and talked for that night."

  I said, " Fine. I will tell her."

   Caroline's POV
      I got out of the pool, cause I heard my phone ringing. I picked it up, and seen it's Jo. She is Alarics wife. Alaric was my high school history teacher.

  I answered it and said, " Hey, Jo."

  She said, " Come to the hospital right away. It's your mom."

  I hung up, and Klaus was walking over to me. I said, " I have to go to the hospital."

  He said, " Want me to drive you?"

  I said, " I'm fine. I just need to run home, and get some clothes."

   He took of his shirt, and said, " Here. Wear this."

  I took it and put it on. I smiled at him, and ran towards the driveway. I got in my car, and drove to the hospital. I was trying to ignore the fact that Klaus's scent is intoxicating.

  I arrived at the hospital, and parked my car. I went inside, and seen Jo.

  I walked over to her and said, " Where's my mom?"

  She said, " Come. We have to talk."

  I nodded. She took us to another waiting room, where Alaric is with the twins.

    I said, " Whats going on? I want to see my mom."

  Alaric said, " I think it's best if you sit down."

  I said, " No. Tell me what's going on."

   Jo said, "Caroline, you're mom was in an accident. Her injuries were severe. I'm sorry. Your mom passed."

  I said, " No. She can't be."

  I had tears running down my cheeks. I collapsed onto the ground, crying. Alaric hugged me.

I don't even know, how long it was. Rebekah and Klaus came.

  Rebekah said, " We heard. Let's get you home."

  Jo, Alaric and the twins left. Rebekah, Klaus and I went to my car. Klaus drove me, and Rebekah took her own car.

    I must've fell asleep on the ride home.

Klaus's POV
    We arrived at her house, and I seen she was sleeping. I got out of the car, and went to her side. I picked her up, and carried her inside her house. Rebekah followed me in. I went upstairs to her room, and laid her down on her bed.

   I covered her up, and looked at her beautiful face. She doesn't deserve this kind of heartbreak. It breaks my heart to see her this way.

  Rebekah and I went downstairs, and sat down in the living room. Rebekah said, " I can't believe Liz died."

  I nodded. We sat there and talked.
