Scene 17

You wake up next to Dabi watching you.

"Hey babe." He says groggily, "I thought I told you to leave me."

You scoot up closer to him, " Never." He winces and you back up. He moves a pillow from under him and pulls you closer to him, kissing you passionately. You try to be gentle, but you think about how just a few hours ago you didn't know if he was going to live or die. Savoring every kiss and every squeeze trying to be gentle but still letting him know how happy you are he is ok.

Dabi pulls back, tucking the hair out of your face, examining your face and smiling at you. There is a knock at the door and one of his nurses comes in.

"Hello, How are we feeling today?" You shoot up and try to step out of the bed but Dabi grabs you, keeping you in the bed.

"Hey, any chance I'll be able to get out of here soon?" He tries to sit up wincing and grabbing his waist.

"Well we are going to run some tests and then go from there." She writes some things down on her tablet, checks his stats and then walks out of the room.

You sit up and position yourself at the foot of his bed, lifting his cover and start rubbing up his leg. "So what happened?"

Dabi fluffs his pillow and leans back on it looking up at the ceiling. He takes a deep breath then looks back at you. You continue to rub his leg massaging his thigh and down to his lower leg.

"Babe," he shakes his head, "I don't think."

"Hawks, it was Hawks wasn't it." You cut him off, your eyes filling with tears, you look away and sniff shaking your head. " It's my fault."

Dabi struggles forward and grabs your hand rubbing his thumb along the back of it. "No it's not."

"Yea, he was there. He was there talking to Shigaraki , I assumed trying to find out where I was. So I walked up to them to see if I could talk to Shigaraki. He tried to stand in between us, getting in my face and threatening me."

You squeeze his hand, and he continues telling you what happened.

" He was trying to get in my face, saying I was lucky I wasn't in jail right now. Then he..."

You lean in closer, " What, what did he do?"

Dabi leans as close to you as he can, barely brushing against your forehead. " He started talking about you."

Your shoulders slump, you look at Dabi he's trying to overt his eyes refusing to look at you. He continues playing with the back of your hand and lets out a deep sigh.

"He just started talking about all the things  he did to you, using you for his pleasure. And said some other things." He looks up at you, staring into your eyes, "I couldn't help it. I lost it."

Dabi tells you how they started fighting, he lunged for Hawks who flew back throwing a couple of his feathers at him. Dabi reached for him, activating his quirk torching everything in his path. He told you that Toga and Shigaraki tried to help,  they fought with him but eventually it was just the two of them. He burned Hawks pretty badly, causing him to lay on the ground seemingly unconscious for a while. He spoke to Shigaraki about leaving and then felt a pain in his chest. Then another in his stomach and scrapes and cuts along his arms and legs, he said he remembered coughing up blood and then leaning against the bar counter and collapsing over.

"Hawks was standing over me with only his baby wings left, he whispered something in my  ear and next thing I know, I'm here. Waking up next to you." He gives you a weak smirk.
