Joy was scared as hell. She didn't even know the dead man that was found in the kitchen.

Jimin was angry because of what happened. He didn't want to jump into conclusions and take his anger out on Joy so he said the case would be judged by him in the court the next day.

Jennie was so scared for Joy, even though she was a maid, they had been friends since they were young.

Joy was like a sister to her. She remember how Joy would cheer her up if she was sad.

Flashback
Sooyoung, I don't want to eat this, tell mother that I would not eat it. Little Jennie said as she pouted her lips while talking to Joy.

Joy's mother was the maid assigned to take Care of her, and she always brought little Joy with her.

That was how Joy and Jennie became friends. When Joy's mother became old, Joy took over being Jennie's maid.

Then what do you want to eat your highness. Joy asked.

Sooyoung, stop with being formal with me, you're my friend right?

Jennie asked while Joy nodded her head.

So stop being formal with me, call me Jennie. By the way, cake, I want cake.

Jennie you know your mother wouldn't let you have snacks. Joy replied pouting her lips.

I know, but you can help me get it when everyone is asleep right? Jennie asked looking at Joy with hope in her eyes.

OK, I will help you because you are my friend. Joy replied.

Yaaaay. Little Jennie said.

Jennie, here is your cake Joy said to Jennie whilst giving her the cake.

Thank you so much Sooyoung, I was sad before but now I'm happy because of you.

From today onwards I'll call you Joy because you have made me so happy today.

Joy's name was originally Sooyoung before Jennie changed it to Joy.

Present, The next day in the court.
Announcer: Attention! Attention! The King of kings, the emperor of Korea, Park Jimin is entering the room.

Immediately the announcer announced Jimin's coming, everyone stood up and bowed their heads in respect.

The emperor was fuming in anger and everyone could sense it.

Jennie was feeling so sorry for her maid. She wished she could help Joy.

After series of questions thrown at Joy from Jimin, she was asked to explain what happened the previous night.

I was, I was---

Joy  was stuttering, she did not want to say Jongin's name because of the threat Irene made to her after everyone left the kitchen.

Flashback
Irene: Don't you even dare say my son's name in the court tomorrow.

Joy: Prime minister, I thought you were good, I never knew you were like this. Tomorrow, I will say nothing but the truth.

Irene: And if you say Jongin's name, I will make life in Illsan miserable for your friend and Queen, Jennie. I'll make sure she suffer. You better do as I say or Queen Jennie pays for your mistake.

Present
Joy snapped out of her thoughts after hearing Jimin's angry voice. "Emperor I promise, I don't know the dead man in the kitchen". Joy said.

"And that was not the question I asked you". Jimin said.

Jennie knew where this was going so she left where she was sitting , the place meant for Queens and went to the middle of the court room where Joy was.

She made joy swear to her that she would say nothing but the truth.

At this pont, Joy had no choice but to tell the truth of what happened the previous night, forgetting Irene's threat.

Emperor, I was going to get Lady Jennie water when the prime ministers son, Kim Jongin tried to force himself on me, I managed to escape by running into the women's quarters where men aren't allowed to enter but he disguised himself as a woman by covering his face with my cloak.

As soon as she said those words, she could feel Irene glaring at her, you know, if looks could kill, she'd be dead by now.

No emperor, Irene said with a stern voice. Kim Jongin was sent by you to go and get some criminals in the next village which is miles away from here so how can she say Jongin tried forcing himself  on her.

That makes sense Jimin thought before he finally spoke up, a soldier would be sent to check if Jongin is really in the next village, if not... He paused, my final judgement will be made after the sent soldier arrives.

He stood up from where he was seated, his throne,  making everyone present in the room get up and bow to him, their King of Kings.

Two days later after the soldier arrived,
It was said that Kim Jongin was in the village two nights before the incident happened.

This made Joy's heart race faster than ever.

Jimin then made his final decision that Joy should be buried alive.

As soon as Jennifer heard this she felt a pain in her heart, her hatred towards the emperor grew the more.

She was going to loose her childhood friend.

After everyone got dismissed from the court, she went to the Emperor who was still seated on his throne.

Greetings Emperor, I've come to ask that you please temper justice with mercy and release my best friend, I know she did nothing wrong, Joy would never-

Enough Oueen Jennie,Jimin said.
I've made my decision and that is final.

But emperor, Jennifer said still trying to convince the emperor.

Leave now Queen Jennifer, Jimin said trying not to be angry.

She looked in the eye one more time before turning to leave.

Jennie was pacing front and back in her room when she heard an announcement that the Queen mother was coming, she rolled her eyes knowing the person was Irene.

Good day Queen Jennie, Irene said with a smirk.

What do you want? Jennie asked sternly.

Take a chill pill my Queen, I know you must be worrying about how poor Joy is doing something I brought you this, she said, giving Jennie a little box. It will help Joy.

What is this, Jennie asked?

Hahaha, Irene laughed, its poison, it will help to quicken Joy's death.

Jennie got angry and shoved the box of poison into Irene's hand and told her to get out of her room.

Trust me my Queen, this will help, Irene said.

But Jennie sent her out of her room.

She plopped on her bed, she decided to look at a box that has different letters and some old drawings she and Joy made.

As she was going through them she saw the letter, the promise the king made to her that if she won't Seulgi in the game of chess, He would give anything she asked for.

She quickly rushed to the king and showed him the letter with the royal seal on it.

Irene tried convincing Jimin not to let Joy go but he insisted on letting her go because he made Jennie a promise.

Joy was no longer buried alive again, Jennie her and Irene was so angry about this.
