A young hybrid girl, whose named she hated to say, dried the last of her tears and walked into the ancient city of Volterra Italy.

She and her father were vacationing in Paris when he disappeared. He said he was getting a present for her and would be back in an hour's time.

So she sat in their hotel room and waited for him.

Six hours went by, and he didn't come back.

Her father, Nathaniel, had told her that if something were to happen while he was away, to go to the Volturi for help.

Her father was good friends with the Volturi and was even one of Aro's witnesses during the false immortal child crisis.

When it was found out that Renessme was a hybrid, Nathaniel decided he wanted a child of his own. He had never had a mate so he went and courted several human women before he fell in love with a woman named Sophia Baker.

When he confessed that he was a vampire, she was very excepting of his nature. However, when she found out that it was possible to survive on the blood of animals, she made him promise to try and change his diet.

He did as she asked immediately. Though he messed up on occasion, he did fairly well.

Sophia became pregnant sometime later.

The child wondered about the city, trying to find the best route to the castle.

Her throat burned, but she did her absolute best to keep her thirst under control. She knew that feeding in Volterra was against the law. Only the Volturi could feed here, and even they could only feed in the castle.

She tried hiding from whatever human she might run into. A girl who looked to a human to be three years old, wandering out in the streets in the middle of the day alone, would definitely cause for alarm.

She looked up at the sky when a rumble of thunder boomed over head. The girl could smell rain coming.

The little hybrid followed the sound of falling water from a nearby fountain, and when she found it, she found herself in the heart of the city.

She looked up at the clock tower and gulped. Her daddy told her stories about the Volturi. He kept her well informed of the members and their powers so that she knew not to get on any of their bad sides.

After all, the Volturi didn't give second chances.

If she slipped up once... she could die.

The hybrid took a shaky breath, hoping she wouldn't get killed if she asked for help from the most powerful coven in the world.

"Hello?" She said in a normal voice, knowing the vampires inside could hear her just fine. "I'm seven months old. I need help from you."

She sat on the edge of the fountain and waited for a response. She could hear that the vampires inside were rather quiet. They must have been listening to her. She figured it was because a child was able to say she was seven months old that caught their attention.

She assumed they put together the fact that she was a hybrid, but she still told them just in case. "I'm a hybrid. I was wondering if your tracker can help me find my daddy. Daddy left to get me a present, saying he'd be back in an hour, and I waited six hours for him. I know you're probably busy, but I really want daddy back. Can I talk to Demetri? Or maybe Aro?"

She sat still and listened carefully. Then faintly, she heard a man from inside say, "Heidi, bring the child here. And be sure you bring a human for her to drink as well."
