Chapter Nineteen, Hogsmeade Date and a Proposal
Sirius was filled with mixed emotions while he stood in the Entrance Hall with James, Regulus, Remus and Frank - waiting on the girls with a basket in hand. He was both nervous and excited to propose to the love of his life. He wore a dusty blue button-up shirt, black jeans, and black smart shoes. The ring box was in his pocket which he just returned after checking it a few times, in the last five minutes.
"Padfoot you get that out any more and you're going to lose it." Remus warned seriously. Before Sirius had time to answer he heard someone coming down the Grand Staircase, looking up Sirius's breath was immediately taken away.Coming down the stairs was Josie looking as beautiful as ever dressed in a black jeans, a green lace high neck top and black heeled boots. Her hair was down in her natural curls with the sides pinned and twisted back, she wore green eyeshadow, black mascara, black eyeliner and pink lipstick. Besides her were Pandora, Marlene and Alice who all looked equally as beautiful, but in a sisterly way to Sirius.
"Josie, you look beautiful." Sirius breathed, causing a blush to appear on Josie's cheeks as she put on her coat as it was starting to get chilly with it now October.
"Thank you Siri. You look handsome." Josie complemented, kissing Sirius sweetly. "As do you four." She added, hugging her brother and her friends."Good luck brother." Regulus whispered, before he went over to his own girlfriend, Suzanne Riley, a Hufflepuff Muggleborn in his year.
"Thank Reggie." Sirius said, pulling his brother into a quick hug before he went over to his girlfriend.
"So, what're we doing today?" Josie asked, linking her arm through Sirius's and directing a pointed look at the basket in his other hand.
"I thought we could go on a picnic. Just the two of us, on that hill that looks over the village and the mountains, it's near the Shrieking Shack but private." Sirius explained, following James and Pandora to a carriage. They would all ride together before going on their separate dates.
"Sounds perfect." Josie said happily, kissing his cheek.***
"Sirius, this view is beautiful." Josie exclaimed in awe, turning around in a circle to get a full look at the view while Sirius set up the picnic. He wouldn't let her help, which annoyed her a little bit but she let it slide because he was being sweet and because of this amazing view. Perhaps they both could come back here and draw it, she mused quietly. Sirius stared up at the vision Josie made and knew this was the perfect time as any to propose. He had wanted to wait until after the picnic but this was much better.
"It is." Sirius agreed, not even looking at the view as he stared up at Josie and got down on one knee and held open the ring box.
"Maybe we could both come back here and paint it or even draw... it." Josie trailed off slowly, a gasp pulling from her lips when she turned around and saw Sirius on one knee holding open a ring box that held a beautiful white gold ring that held a large sapphire which was surrounded by diamonds."Sirius?" She asked, her voice like a whisper as one hand covered her mouth the other having been captured by Sirius. Taking a deep breath Sirius smiled up at the love of his life. She wasn't running away or showing negative emotions so he assumed that was a good sign.
"Josephine Alyssa Potter. From that first day on the Hogwarts Express I was enthralled by you. I admired you. Not only by your beauty, although you were and are stunning." He added, making her giggle as she rolled her eyes teasingly. "But by your strength on how you've overcome everything. Your brains, your ideas, especially your prank ones, and how you're not afraid to put me, James and Remus in our places when you think or know we're being out of order - James and me more than Remus." He smiled, gaining more courage as she laughed again this time wetly."As time went on I fell in love with you, hopelessly in love with you, maybe I always have been and I didn't know it, because you bring the best out in nearly everyone you meet. You make me want to be better, do better. I didn't think I could love you anymore than I already did until you brought me and Reggie together again, and I knew then that I've always loved you right from our first meeting and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Josie. To love you, make you happy as you make me and everything in between. So will you make me the happiest man ever? Will you marry me?" He asked, his own tears in his eyes.
"Yes! Yes, of course I will Siri!" Josie exclaimed, tears falling down her cheeks but a happy smile was on her face. Sirius grinned at her, taking the ring from the box which he dropped onto the blanket, he slipped the ring onto her left ring finger and pulled her down onto his lap and kissed her passionately."It's beautiful. Thank you Sirius." Josie said against his lips, pecking them again.
"Not as beautiful as you." Sirius denied, making Josie laugh.
"I bet Jamie and my Dad gave you a hard time when you asked them, huh?" She teased, as they finally started on the picnic when they could finally stop kissing each other. But they both had wide grins on their faces which didn't look like they would disappear anytime soon. Sirius groaned and flopped dramatically back on to the blanket making Josie laugh again.
"They really did. I expected it, but still!" Sirius exclaimed, throwing his arms up into the air. Smiling at how much he's made Josie laugh in the last few minutes alone, after the year she's had he had sworn to himself to make her laugh as much as possible."Oh, you poor thing." Josie played along, running her hand through his hair. Sirius nodded a pout on his face, until they both burst out laughing.
"I love you Josie Potter."
"And I love you Sirius Black."
