Chapter II: Tea Party From Hell

Violette Montague rose when the sun did. Bright and early, sunrays would peek through the blue silk drapes in the dormitory, and Violette would practically jump out of bed. The other girls had their faces buried in pillows, some even wore masks over their eyes because they knew that once Violette woke up, the whole room would be flooded with morning light. Violette always encouraged them to start their day early— there's just far too much to be done, especially on a Saturday!

Saturdays were, by far, Violette's favourite day of the week. There were no classes, which meant she and Elijah were free to head down to Hogsmeade and spend all their time shopping and watching muggle films at Penelope Plum's Picture Palace! This Saturday, however, was particularly special— it was the evening of the Harvest Moon (or, to those less knowledgable: the Pisces full moon) and, therefore, the first Lonely Hearts Club meeting of the school year.

Now, these meetings always required careful, thorough planning and preparation. They took place in an empty, abandoned classroom not too far from Ravenclaw Tower— and Violette found it just in time to decorate it with red and pink banners and heart-shaped parchment enchanted to hover above the students as they sat and drank their tea. Even Elijah helped out— bless his wonderful soul— he was an extraordinary pastry chef, and spent the afternoon in the kitchens baking pumpkin pasties and cranberry muffins and pink biscuits in the shape of all kinds of different flowers.

Unfortunately for her, she wasn't going to be able to admire him that morning because someone (by the name of Minerva McGonagall) had assigned a two-parchment-long assignment on the importance of conjuring spells. And worst of all, Violette totally forgot about the assignment!

But thank Merlin for weekends! Violette looked forward to getting out of her robe and into prettier clothing— confidence is always key, and when you look good, you feel good too!

Violette tied her black curls up with a blue scrunchie her mothers gifted her. Hogwarts felt like home for most of the year, but Violette often found herself yearning for her cottage, for her parents. She missed the countryside, the open meadows and the morning breeze. She missed waking up to the smell of Mama Renée's cooking and Mama Nadia humming as she read a book by the window. Sure, they wrote often, but it wasn't the same.
