A headache and a smoke alarm going off. That's what I woke up to that morning and I sighed before pushing myself up and rolling on my side. Of course being the klutz I am meant that I missed completely and managed to roll off my bed, landing on the floor. "Aw hell." I murmured before getting up and going downstairs, still hearing the alarm going off. Where the hell was my mother at times like this? Oh right, in her room with the door locked. How could I forget...
"What the hell are you doing?" "Making breakfast." The blonde version of myself murmured emotionlessly, flipping over some black item and I looked away realising that it was bacon. I scoffed lightly before letting her eggs run off the plate and into the garbage, eggs are not made to be that runny, while she glared shoving the frying pan into my hand.
"You do it. Pretty girls like me are not meant to make breakfast." "Pretty girls like you can only do one thing and that's cheat on their boyfriends." I snapped and her brown eyes narrowed into slits before she looked away with a small smile on her face. Of course she takes that as something good. "I have to get ready." I murmured and she looked me over before nodding. "I'll make toast and bacon." I looked down at the white and yellow mess that was in the garbage before putting up my hands and walking away. Have fun with that.
"Are you kidding me?" She shrugged continuing to separate the burned pieces of toast from the edible parts and I resisted the urge to throw up. She eventually gave up and grabbed a bottle of water before muttering something about how she was on a diet. "You don't need it." I started and she smiled at me, making me smirk as I saw the expectancy in her eyes. "You're still ugly." I finished and she scoffed loudly before looking into the mirror that she carried everywhere.
I looked up at the doorway hearing footsteps and I raised an eyebrow seeing a wide grin. The owner walked through the doorway before walking over to her and kissing her on the forehead before standing behind her. The smirk on her face told me that she didn't care about him but the fact that it got under my skin was why she was doing it. Whore. "Hey Gabby." He murmured and I masked my emotions with a fake smile before replying. After all, he did spend the night in her bed so he couldn't be talking to her. "Hey Brian, she finally realized that she loved you?"
He nodded with the same stupid grin on his face and reached over to grab her fingers and I didn't fail to notice how she pulled them away to "check her make up". Brian was one of those sad pathetic boys at our school, despite the fact that he was one of my best friends, that worshipped the ground that Gabriella walked on and was desperate for any sort of attention, especially for their fan club. Brian, of course, was the president and was the one who left roses and chocolates in her locker and sat outside our house for hours until she came home and I was always there, telling him she would never love him but of course, he never gave up. And now, they're "together" and the sad thing is that she's gonna dump him rudely and harshly and never look back and I'm going to have to deal with a heartbroken best friend and a big heap of I told you so.
"I'm happy for you." I choked out and his grin widened while her eyes darkened. That was definitely not what she was looking for. "Girls are you ready for school?" I heard that familiar voice float down the hallway and I rested on my right arm as my mother entered the kitchen looking around in horror. "What happened here?" "I made breakfast. Something our mother should've been doing." Gabriella snapped and for once, I agreed with her. She looked down at the floor in shame and I stared at the white flakes on her dark pantsuit. I chuckled mirthlessly and she looked away, knowing what I was laughing at before looking at the other person in the room.
"Hi Brian." I was so caught up in my mother's addiction that I didn't notice that Gabriella was now at the doorway far away from him and he was trying to mask the pain on his face with a smile. "You stayed with Gabrielle last night?" I looked over at my sister and she gave me the familiar look I had seen not too long ago and I sighed before interrupting him. "Actually I stayed with G-" "Of course mother. He's my best friend isn't he?" She nodded, pleased she knew something about my life and walked away while we followed. "Thanks." She murmured and I looked at her. "He's just so... disgusting and life ruining you know?"
I had never wanted to punch my sister more than at that moment.
"Gabby!! Gabby!!! Gabriellieeeeeeee!!" I looked up and glared at Hillary, hoping to get her to shut up and she did after screaming in my ear. Well that was pleasant. "What Hillary?" I mumbled downing the aspirin and water Allison gave me, noticing that Brian had finally shut up about Gabriella. Thank the Lord. "They're here." I raised an eyebrow and she chuckled before nodding her head in the direction of the other side of the cafeteria where two boys were seated, next to Lucas and his potato heads of friends. The two boys were those exact same boys from the party, only they had dark brown hair like I did and not blonde hair. Strobe lights and alcohol do some weird things to your eyesight.
"So?" "You could find true love!" She yelled and I glared as half the cafeteria turned to look at us. "Turn around!" I yelled and they did as I commanded and I looked back at the most hyper member of my table. "I don't believe in love." I said slowly so Hillary could understand and Allison nodded picking at her salad. "And you need to respect that." This is why I loved her; even if she didn't agree with my beliefs, she respected them and that's all I really cared about. "Love exists." She shot back and I sighed, not wanting to argue with her about this again.
"You don't want us to be together." Oh God, it seems Brian finally woke up from his daze and was staring at me. "You don't want your sister and I to be happy." I exchanged a look with my only rational friend and she shrugged before turning her attention to something else. Traitor. "I love your sister." He climbed onto the table, not letting the fact that he tripped four times deter him, and called for everyone's attention. I looked across the room and noticed the panicked look on my sister's face and I actually felt some sort of sympathy for her. Wait, I lie. I feel no sort of sympathy for her. All she could do now was hope for some sort of miracle.
"Sassy cat!" Damn my life. I turned to my left and stared at the boy who decided to ruin my life every single day while he stared back with that stupid grin. "What Lucas?" It was then that I realized he had a friend. The same idiot who was staring at me half the night last night. Why me? What did I ever do to deserve this kind of torture? "My friend wanted to meet my girlfriend." "Not your girlfriend." I replied that same mantra as always and as always, he brushed me off. "Nate, sassy cat. Sassy cat, Nate." I just realized that he probably didn't know my name so he settled for sassy cat. Idiot. I looked around the table and realized that my two bestest friends ever had disappeared and Brian was still pouring out his heart for Gabriella. Traitors. They are all traitors.
"So what's your real name?" I turned my attention to the smirking boy next to me and I sighed before answering him. "It's not sassy cat?" Lucas asked confused and I resisted the urge to reply. One boy could not be that stupid. "You'll always be my sassy cat." He murmured before pulling me to him and I sighed loudly, it was useless resisting anyways, before looking over at Nate, who I'm pretty sure murmured something like "Not if I steal her away." but whatever,
They still disgust me.
"I love you Gabriella King and I want you to be my wife!"
Especially that stupid idiot Brian Lombardi.
