"I'm sorry."

Ashton Irwin held three wilted daisies in his hand, their white petals becoming brown, falling to the floor.

"I'm sorry."

He had rehearsed those words so much they became stale in his mouth, a repeated saying that he would state over and over and over again until they eventually lost all meaning.

"I'm sorry."

How long would it take for him to realize that his efforts were meaningless? That his apology would always be accepted, but never taken into consideration. The words were tasteless, a single speck of dust in a world full of vibrant color. She would need him, but not after this-never after this.

"I'm so damn sorry."

He could see it now- a million tears streaming down her face as he would open the door, her smile brighter than one billion suns. They would fall into each others arms as it was always meant to be.

"Love, I'm sorry."

Love hurts, it always would, but she never hurt him.

"Baby, I'm sorry." he muttered, opening the door to their apartment.

He flicked the lights of their pitch black apartment on, and the wilted daisies in his hand fell to the ground.

She was gone.
