Ba dum, ba dum, ba dum, ba dum. The steady rhythm of someone's heartbeat woke me from my sleep. I felt as if I had been hit by a truck. Maybe that was due to the pounding on my chest in order to resuscitate me. My eyes flickered open, squinting in the florescent lighting of the hospital room. My foot began to itch and I rubbed it against the bed, before realizing I could actually move. I wiggled my toes, one by one, followed by my fingers and whole limbs. I was beyond excited that I could feel again that I had forgotten about the person sleeping next to me. They began to shuffle, then sit up. Harry. He rubbed at his eyes and ruffled his hair.

"Rose? Oh my god, Rosie!"

He jumped up, knocking the chair clean over and onto the white floor. He leaned over, his hands on either side of my face and began kissing me all over. The feeling of his lips on mine again left me breathless and I was afraid my heart monitor would start beeping again. I placed my hands on his jaw, slowly easing him back as I sat up, the bed crunching beneath me.

"Rose, I missed you so much! I thought I was going to lose you!"

His eyes started to glisten ever so slightly, his nose reddening. He looked a mess. Bags circled his eyes, his curls all ruffled and sprouting every which way, but he still was beautiful.

"I'm okay Harry, really."

I nodded, reassuring him while he glanced me over, before bending over and picking up his chair and sitting down again.

"Where are the others?"

"In the cafeteria. Lou, whom you haven't met, wanted some tea and the other tagged along."

"Oh."

Silence fell over us, Harry's large hands framing my own. After a few minutes, he started to stir uncomfortably, as if something was bugging him.

"What is it Harry?"

"Nothing."

"Harry, I know something is bothering you."

"No, just...how come you never told me about...you know?"

I had forgotten he knew about that now. I sighed, my chest heaving heavily before returning back to it's normal rhythm.

"It wasn't something I wanted to think about."

"Can you tell me what happened, please?"

I nodded again, squeezing my eyes shut, thinking of where I should start as I relived my biggest regret.

"It was a little after my one year anniversary with Jason, before he really had gotten physical. His best friends were over for dinner and he wanted to announce the pregnancy to them, I had already been 2 months along,"

I paused, out of breath as my tears fell in a constant stream. I swallowed the lump in my throat and continued with the story.

"Him and his friends were drinking, playing darts. After they left, Jason began to get rough with me, pushing me around as I tried to clean. Once I was done, I headed upstairs to take a shower. We got into a heated argument over the laundry and when he pushed me into the wall, I tripped and fell down the stairs, causing me to lose the baby."

By now, Harry was sitting on the bed with me wrapped in his arms. I cried into his chest as he sang to me softly, his hands smoothing down my hair.

"I'm sorry Rosie, I really am."

"It's okay Harry."

Harry became silent again. His breathing comforted me and I began to get sleepy listening to his heartbeat.

"Hey Rose?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think we can try to have a baby together?"

I smiled to myself, my thoughts going back to my earlier day dreams of Harry as a father.

"I'd love to. You'd be a great father."

"And I think you'd be a great mother Rose."
