The rain never seemed to lighten up, Marco was trying to find an excuse to go out and down the to beach but with how bad the weather was most places were closed, including where he worked.
"What if it's a hurricane?" Wesley asked as they huddled the next morning in the living room with bowls of cereal and the news on.

"It's not a hurricane because the news people haven't said it is and I've not heard it on any social media or my news app." Marco sighed waving his phone around before dropping it in his lap
"May I drive over to the Jaeger's?"

"No." His mother and father spoke in near unison making the freckled young man frown

"I will drive slow and take the main roads that are less water logged. I'll even call you when I get there, heck I could even walk they live right around the corner"

Lightening flashed through their main window as the wind and rain pelted the house from seemingly all sides
"The answer is still no son. It's not safe weather for driving."-"Or walking" The Finality in his father's voice made Marco drop the subject for the time being.

A while later the rain was letting up a bit, at least, the lightening wasn't happening anymore and the wind had died down significantly, just a dark downpour.
Finishing the dishes from lunch Marco stared out their kitchen window, the view wasn't the beach or anything, just their now flooded back yard. The dog however was barking like crazy at the back door and she wouldn't stop, his father was upstairs in his office, and his mother in the living room, Wesley upstairs drawing. Regardless of each family member yelling from where ever they were for the dog to be quiet she didn't.
"I think she needs to go outside so I'm gonna take her!"

"Stay in the yardage! And make sure you take an umbrella and dry her off super well before you track mud and water into my kitchen!" His mother hollered from the other room, but she didn't come into the kitchen.

"Yes ma'am!" Marco called over his shoulder as he dried his hands off and looked to his dog"Alright Cena, let's take you out so you'll quit barking so much." Marco looked down at the golden retriever where she stopped barking momentarily, her eyes never leaving the back door.
"Is something out there?" Grabbing the dog leash, as he put the hood up on his raincoats, it was a yellow one of course because his little brother had watched the movie IT and insisted they both get yellow raincoats, so naturally Marco ended up ordering them online.

Holding the leash in his hand just incase the rain let up enough for him to take Cena on a proper walk, he opened the back kitchen door and the screen. She didn't move but kept staring
"Come on girl. Just go out like you keep barking about. We can stay under the awning on the little bit of almost dry grass we have." He tugged at her collar a little and she finally moved to go out as Marco left the safety of the house and entered their backyard.

"See? Just rain." He stepped out from under the awning, dark eyes watching his dog as she sat just outside the door. "Geez Louis Cena. Why bark your head off if you're not wanting to go out? You Don't gotta go in the rain." Shaking his head as rain slipped off his hood he spun around, his tennis shoes already wet as he kicked a puddle "Come on. You wanted this!" He groaned turning back to his dog as she just tilted her head at him.

"What-" Marco halted, he swore, mixed with the pouring rhythm of the rain he heard singing.
It was beautiful, a song full of feeling he couldn't exactly place, but he felt drawn to it. Who in their right mind would be singing in this kind of weather? Marco didn't even register that he had approached the back gate and was unlocking it. Cena began barking like crazy as Marco left the backyard. He just wanted to know who was singing, who owned such a peaceful but longing kind of voice. Why such music seemed to crash upon him as the waves amid the rocky cliffs. How a song without many words that he could pick up on, could pelt down on his heart like the rain and how the distant constant roll of thunder seemed to keep in time with the mysterious song.
