                                        Chapter 3: Lily

I'm standing in a room with a boy huddled in a dark corner. He sniffles and stands up.

"Come here" he says.

Where am I? Why can't I remember how I got here?

"Please come here" he says again.

He turns around but is head is facing downward so I can't see his face.

"Please don't leave me. Everyone left. I'm so lonely. You won't leave me right? You won't leave me like everyone else?"

Where the hell am I? How come he isn't seeming to breathe?

He looks up and I see eyes filled with so much sadness I drop to my knees. The rest of his face is hidden in the darkness but his eyes are enough for me to see his pain.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes. This can't be real. Surely I'm dreaming or something, this doesn't make any sense. I open my eyes and the boy is gone.

I look around and can't see him anywhere. I see there's something white where the boy was and go to pick it up. It's a note scribbled hastily.

"You aren't the only one"

I wake up with a jolt, clutching my chest in pain. My whole body is hurting badly and it feels like someone shot my bottom leg.

"How are you? Are you experiencing any severe pain anywhere?" A female voice asks.

I turn my head and see a nurse standing there. Holy shit, why am I in the hospital? I look down and see I'm laying in a hospital bed with a cast over my leg.

"What happened to me?" I ask staring at my leg.

The nurse looks at her paperwork.

"You fell down a steep landslide and got a minor fracture in your ankle."

"How did I get to the hospital?" I ask concerned.

"A boy named Blake I believe called 911 and helped you get here."

Oh shit I remember now. Seeing him in the forest. Running away from him. Experiencing the worst pain I've ever felt.

I must've fainted because I don't remember him calling 911 or me getting here.

"We've called your parents and they should be getting here any minute now. She smiles a little and shuts the door on her way out.

I lay back down, making sure to do so slowly. I still can't wrap my head around it. He saved me?

I'm about to fall asleep when the door opens again.

"Oh dear I thought we lost you! How are you feeling? Do you need me to get a nurse?"

My mother is frantic, with tears in her eyes.

"No, mother I'm fine and feeling better."

"Do you still want me to get the nurse? Just to check up on you?"

"No, no I'm fine I promise" I smile reassuringly hoping I've convinced her.

She doesn't seem fully convinced but does relax a little. She sits down in the chair next to me and puts her head in her hands.

"It's all my fault. I should've told you before where your father was going to work."

I clench my fist and close my eyes. I told my parents I was going to a friends house, so of course it must've been a shock when they found out I was alone in a forest.
