My Nightmare Story

What is "Them"?

Waking up I stretched and yawn. Going out I heard some chatter at the main hall. Thus, I went there but before that I checked on my friends and saw that they are still resting. So, I went to the meeting first. Walking there I suddenly bumped into the cloaked man again.

*Walking towards the meeting room*
Me: I'm sorry I keep bumping onto you.
Cloaked man: It's fine you might still feel unstable after the things that happened in a short period of time.
Me: *stops* W-wait.
Cloaked man: *stops and turns to me* what is it?
Me: Wh-what is your name? At least let me thank you properly after everything you did for me and my friends...
Cloaked man: ....Avery...
Me: Well thank you Sir Avery for helping me and my friends all this time. Also I remember I haven't told you my name. I am Vanilla. To repay me and my friends' debt we promise to be of proper use to you. *slightly bows*
Avery: Now our introduction is over lets go to the meeting room then.
*end*

We again started walking towards the main hall where they also have their meetings. The moment we showed up the people started to greet Avery with joy and said that they could finally start the meeting.

*At the meeting table*
Avery: Since we have a new person here we should tell them who "Them" really is.
Everyone: *stays silent and nods in agreement*
Avery: *clears his throat* So "Them" are are dark shadows that can possess dead and feed on dead bodies. That's why you saw the garden with a mountain of dead bodies. They feast on them and everyone in this province is possessed. They attract tourists using the festival and then they kidnap them once they are fast asleep in the inn. They raise them in crosses because they believe the sun would make them more delicious.
*he kept on explaining even the minor details and finishes*
Me: So how would we defeat them?
Avery: Sadly we still haven't found their weakness...So do we have any more questions?
Everyone: *shakes their head*
Avery: This meeting has ended everyone go start training.

As we were dismissed I went to my friends' rooms and woke them up informing that there is a training session. After gathering them all at the hall we went to the training ground I introduced all of them to Avery. After introductions we were all made to choose a weapon the boys already knew what their weapons are but me and Rose still can't decide. So we went to Avery and asked for advice.

*Walks over to Avery*
Me: Umm...Me and Rose were wondering if you would advise us on how to choose our weapons.
Rose: We are quite new to this so we aren't sure what to choose. *looks down while fidgeting*
Avery: Hmm *thinking as he notices a sword flying towards Rose. He quickly pulls her towards him*
Rose: *blushes as she became aware of what is happening* I-I'm sorry I should've been more aware of my surroundings *quickly pulls away*
Me: *hurriedly I went to Rose's side and hugs to comfort her* Thank you you're always saving us... *looks at Avery while still hugging Rose*
Avery: *nods as he picks up the sword and returns it to one of the members* Be careful next time.
Random member: I'm sorry sir it would not happen again. *bows as he gets the sword*
Avery: *approaches me and Rose* You should keep on resting it is obvious you are still not okay.
Me and Rose: *looks at our two friends*
Avery: Don't worry about them I'll make sure they don't hurt themselves.
*With that reassurance me and Rose went to her room*

A few hours of talking she eventually drifted off too sleep. But, before that I tucked her in and reassured her about everything so she would have a good rest. I yawned but didn't want to go back to my room yet. So, I went wandered around and saw a mysterious glowing room. I know, I know when something mysterious is happening do not go near it. But, not me I went there and peeked seeing Avery holding a glowing dagger. He noticed me peeking then signals me to go in telling me it is alright. Sitting down we chatted for a bit. Until he decides to agree to tell me something that he hasn't told anyone even the members of this group.
