Needles

Prologue

Hello, my name is Abi.

I used to be petrified of needles, but now I'm used to them as I have this disease. I have holes in my fingers and bruises on my legs, but I'm still alive and healthy.

I have a normal life and do normal things; like any teenager would do (Although I don't have a boy friend) I go to a mixed comprehensive school in the east of England. I get the bus to school every day.

I was diagnosed at the age nine and I'm 15 now. If you're sitting there thinking why, I am telling you my life story and you wondering what the disease could be well I'll tell you now, I am Diabetic.

Diabetes is the cause of the holes in my fingers and the bruises on my legs.

I have to eat every two and a half hours and inject myself four times a day, to keep myself alive.
