Chapter 3: "The Past Always Comes Back"

~ With Childe and Lumine; Normal POV ~

"Lumine? Is that you?" Childe said surprised.

"N-No, you must be imagining this. I'm a hologram." As Lumine said that, Childe grabbed her wrist to try and pull her back. She squealed nervously and pulled away.

"It is you.....I can't believe this...." Childe said nearly tearing up. Lumine couldn't speak. The person that ruined her only chance at ever finding love again was now standing in front of her.

"Where have you been for the past 2 years? You stopped coming to the staircase to see me after our argument." Childe said sullen look on his face.

"Y-Yeah I got expelled. I stopped going to class after that and the headmaster expelled me..." She said softly. It was a lot of awkward silence between the two.

"Hey, you know I missed you right? After the fight, I went to the staircase and I brought you your favorite stuffed toy and I bought you a crystal hairpin." Childe said. She couldn't believe herself, he was one of those guys.

"I'm honored that you tried to win me back with those but I was traumatized....ever since that fight, I didn't let anyone who wasn't my family touch me for 2 years." She said looking away. Childe was averting his gaze as well.

"Ya know, we could always try again. I was young back then, we both were. I'm 18 now so you know. I've gotten more mature." Childe said with a self deprecating smile.

"N-No thanks. I'm scared to get back together with you...." Lumine said as she turned away from Childe and tears were running down her face.

"Lumine wait please!! I mean it, I really did miss you. And I'm sorry that all happened....I went to get help after that. Please...." He shouted and tried to get her to stay but she continued to walk to the dorms.

"I don't know why you keep trying. I didn't even go to Snezhnaya Academy but since she's my childhood friend, I care about her." A deep voice said from behind Childe. He turned around and saw Dainsleif.

"Oh it's just you....come on Dain. Don't be a prick." Childe said leaning against a tree. Dainsleif walked up to Childe and stood near him.

"I only agreed to be your friend because of your background." He said annoyingly.

"Sure, of course that's the only reason." Dainsleif said with a chuckle. Childe rolled his eyes.

I didn't expect her to get transferred to Teyvat High as well. Now that I think about it, I think I caught a glimpse of her a year ago back at Liyue Private Academy. I did go there for a year and a half after I moved out. Childe thought to himself.

"So what are you going to do now? Try and win her back?" Dainsleif asked Childe. He then looked over at Dain and then at the ground.

"It's obvious, isn't it?"

~ With Lumine ~

Childe was the last person I wanted to run into at that moment. When did my life crash? I used to be so happy, so cheerful....now I'm just a depressed mess. Lumine sunk to the ground near the greenhouse and started to sob.

A guy with long green hair and glasses walked out of the greenhouse.

"Hm? Who have we here? Hey....are you okay?" The guy asked Lumine. She looked up suddenly and wiped her face quickly.

"I-I'm fine. Don't worry, I was just leaving...." Lumine said as she stood up and began to walk away quickly.

"You don't have to rush, I don't bite. My name is Baizhu and I am a 3rd-year here. I am in charge of the gardening club so I spend most of my time here at the greenhouse." The guy now known as Baizhu said sweetly. Lumine lowered her guard and spoke slowly.
