I was really anxious while I was heading towards music class. Last year, the vice principle said that the school is going to remove the piano for many reasons, which they never told me but one of them was because:
"It takes up too much space."
During sophomore year, I signed a paper that the principle agreed on, whoever writes their name on it will want to keep the piano in music class for at least two years. I haven't checked back on the result but today will finally be the day. Before opening the door, I look through the small window and see the vice principal and my music teacher, Mrs. Hawkins negotiating.
I swung open the door with my heart pounding more than it usually does. The piano was gone. I was devastated, crushed, torn apart and mostly, hurt.
"Wha-What happened?" I asked feeling my voice shaking. "
I'm sorry Emma; your results weren't as much as we were hoping it to be. But we know how much you love playing the piano as well you tried your very best, that is why we're moving it to a room that has never been used before, If you don't mind?" the principal was asking nicely.
I couldn't have argued or fought with him. I didn't receive the amount of people to sign the paper so I deserve the consequences. But I was more than happy he didn't throw it out. He actually kept it. I had nothing better to do other than accepting the fact. I nodded my head in relief and she smiled. "Good, we'll be looking forward seeing you play this year, Emma." He said smiling.
He nodded again not knowing what to say and walked away.
As he left, Mrs. Hawkins let out a big sigh in relief for him leaving. I busted out laughing. Mrs. Hawkins was not like any other teacher. She had a sense of humor, bright ideas for every student that comes in her class. She's like my second mother.
"So I heard you'll be playing this year for the senior's graduation. That's good for you Emma, it really is!" She said putting her thumbs up.
I thanked her as I was hugging her.
Letting go, I gave her a curious face. As soon as I was going to open my mouth to ask her where is the piano, she smiled and said, "It's all the way on the top floor, room 8B. Some areas are dusty and unorganized. But with the help of your friends you guys can do great!" with a big smile and a wink. I smiled again in big relief, hugged her, and ran off to the new music class.
