ALEX's P.O.V

A knock on the door interupts our conversation about my work.

"Maam, Sir."

"Yes, Mattie, Come in." Isay says smiling, her tone warm and comforting.

Their household help comes in looking humble and polite. "Maam, there's a man downstairs, he says he's looking for Mr. Alex, and says that he's his driver."

Isay nods warily before turning to me, her eyes narrowed and her lips set into a hard line. Oh no, here she goes again.

"Alex." She starts, her tone full of warning and irritation.

My eyebrows shot up. "Yes, Ms. Hale?"

She grits her teeth in annoyance, and it makes me laugh in my head. She cares too much for a stranger like me.

"Ms. Hale my ass." She remarks and glares at me. "Why did you call your driver, and why are you going home? I thought we agreed that you'd get rest first?"

My index finger trails my lower lip as I observed her. "Well, Ms. Hale and your ass. I can rest at home."

She pushed back her chair and sat on her bed infront of me, trying her best to contain her temper.

"When you go home there's work. How the heck is that resting?" She scolds.

I couldn't help but to roll my eyes. Why the fuck does she cares?

"Yes there is work Ms. Hale." I answered, my gaze never leaving hers. "But I can take care of myself. I don't need a girl to help me get better."

She frowns, offended and her eyes drilled into mine. God, this girl is so stubborn. I don't understand why she's not that intimidated or scared by me.

All of a sudden she smirks. "Tell that to the girl who saved you earlier."

I exhaled in frustration before pinching the bridge of my nose. "Ms. Hale, I need to go home. I still need to take care of Austin."

There was seconds of silence. I looked at her and I see that she's believing my petty excuse. Her gaze dropped on the floor and she frowns. Yup. She's going to finally release me.

"Ugh. Fine. Fine." She mutters in defeat. "Whatever Kennedy."

My lips curled upwards into a half grin making her to throw me a look of annoyance. Well, you annoy me too Ms. Hale.

I stood up and she follows. We both got down in silence, using her elevator. I can tell that she's not too happy about me leaving, but, as much as I'd like to stay, I still have work to do. Shitloads of work.

Being a son of a greedy billionaire is a fucking pain in the ass. If it wasn't for my love for business, I would have flipped my old man off.

The elevator dings and opens, and we both proceed to the foyer.

"Alex, you're leaving already?" Stella asks, worry evident in her tone.

I smiled at her. "I'm afraid I have to leave Stella. I still have a lot of errands to run."

"By errands he means work." Isay irritatedly mumbled bellow her breath. I ignored her.

"That's fine Alex. Just take care of yourself and try to rest." Stella smiles warmly before leaving.

I head outside where Jonathan is waiting for me.

I turn to Isay, my face clear and empty, devoid of any emotion. "Ms. Hale, I appreciate the effort you made for me and I just want to say thank you."
