I did not remember your touch until a friend greeted me happy birthday with a hug and I almost shook in horror

I did not remember your smell until I was at a party where my friend poured me alcohol and I threw up from anxiety

I did not remember your voice until I heard your brother laugh;  I thought it was you and had a panic attack.

I did not remember your face until I mistook an unknown tall stranger for you and I froze in fright.

All that scare
And yet
And yet!
I'm grateful that the only thing I tasted that night was alcohol and not your venom.
