Chapter 2

Madelyn's POV:

I ponder in my thoughts at the confusion of what my best friend just told me. Connar the most hottest popular guy in school told her to ask me of all people to go to his party. It's 10pm so Bella is already asleep, her room next to mine to make sure I can get to her if needed. I quietly go down stairs to make sure all of the lights are off in the rest of the house. I'm in the kitchen with the only light on left because I'm going to get a quick snack and a drink. After I'm done I shut the light off, go upstairs, check on Bella, then head into my room and shut the door discreetly behind me. I sit on my bed munching on my snack when all of a sudden my phone goes off.

Random Number: She said you wouldn't believe her. I guess she was right, haha.

Oh shit I mumble out loud. This cannot be happening there is no way in the history of the world that he would be texting me right now.

Madelyn: Who is this?

I say in denial to this whole situation.

Random Number: You know who this is dummy.

Did he seriously just call me dummy? He doesn't even know I exist and he has the audacity to call me the dummy.

Madelyn: Excuse you, you don't even know I exist or who I am. Why do you get to call me the dummy?

Random Number: Because you're acting like you don't know who I am but fine I'll play your little game, it's Connar.

Madelyn: And why are you texting me at 10 o'clock at night in fact why are you texting me period people like you don't talk to me.

Connar: Ouch, people like me?

I roll my eyes looking at the text. I don't know why the hell he's texting me right now but I guarantee this is all just one big joke.

Madelyn: Yes you popular people don't talk to nobody's like me especially not you. Now what exactly are you texting me for?

Connar: I hate to break it to you but you're really not a nobody, but anyways I'm texting you because I want you to come to my End of Summer party that I'm throwing.

What the fuck does he mean "I'm not a nobody" of course I'm a nobody I don't belong to the group of popular people.

Madelyn: Hmm let me think about it...probably not.

Connar: What?! Why?!

Madelyn: Because I know this is some sick joke and I have Bella to take care of.

I quickly remember he doesn't know anything about me so he's probably very confused as to what I'm talking about.

Connar: It's not a joke, I'm being serious. Who's Bella?

Madelyn: My baby sister I take care of now I should get some sleep before she wakes up. Goodbye Connar.

I'm generally kind of irritated at this exact moment because he doesn't know me and I know he's pulling some prank on me.

Connar: Please think about it, I really want you to be there. Goodnight ;)

What in the name of fuck was that?! A winking face?! What is happening right now? I'm so going to have to tell Alyssa about this in the morning.

Connar's POV:

I think about the conversation I just had with Madelyn, I keep replaying it in my head. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever laid my eyes on. She thinks I've never noticed her but that's far from the truth, I know that she's the most amazing cheerleader that I've ever seen. I want to get to know her. I want to see where life takes us but I don't blame her for not believing me. I guess I wouldn't either if I were her. I didn't know that she took care of her baby sister though I thought she had parents, maybe we'll get to talk about it someday.

I honestly hope she does come to the party because I really want her there. No one knows the way I feel about her other than her best friend Alyssa and her boyfriend Keagan because he's my best friend. I think I should show up to her house tomorrow. Maybe thatll help convince her to come to my party. She really is amazing. I just want to show her how special she really is. Weve known each other since we were little. We just never were in the same friend circle due to me being a McCormik and her being a Winthrup. Ill even offer to bring her to her cheer practice because I know its the same time as football tomorrow. I should get some sleep though too if this is going to go anywhere near as smoothly as I want it to.

~The Next Day (1 Day until the Party)~

Connars POV:

Its 9 AM and I just woke up. My practice isnt until 4 oclock which gives me plenty of time to go to Madelyns and try to persuade her. The first thing I do is text Alyssa to ask her to give me Madelyns address. To my surprise with no questions asked she sends it to me 4611 Jackson Boulevard. I never realized how close she lived to me. I didnt even know we lived on the same road. I feel horrible now, maybe I should go get her flowers, no thatd be a bit much. I get out of bed and go down stairs to eat. Just in time! my dearest mother says happily. Good morning mom, whatd you make?

It smells delicious! I say kindly. Thank you dear, I made french toast and bacon, your favorite! she exclaims. Mmm. I say as I take a plate from within my cabinet above the counter then get a fork from in the drawer under the counter beside the sink. What are your plans for the day, other than football practice? she asks curiously. Do you remember Madelyn Winthrup? I ask. Of course! I went to school with her mom Terra Brooks! she says excitedly remembering her high school times.

What?! I never knew this! I say curiously and louder than anticipated. Oh yes, we were the best of friends back then, then she met Edward and well we grew apart due to his timidness. she says dully. Edward? Is that Madelyns father? I asked confused. Yes, neither of them are ever around much; they're always away on business trips. Poor Madelyn is always stuck taking care of her baby sister by herself. I feel bad for her because she is playing the role of her parents and she shouldnt have to. Anywho, why the sudden interest in her darling? she replies with remorse.

I like her mom well what I see and know about her. I want to get closer to her so Im going to go over to her house this morning to try to convince her to come to my party then offer her a ride to cheer practice because our practice times are the same today. I answered her. How sweet I bet she doesnt believe you huh? The sudden interest in her probably came as a shock considering she doesnt exactly hang out with the popular crowd at school. she says.

Yeah she denied it when texted her about it last night which is partially why I want to go to her house today so she knows Im being generally serious. I say. My mother shakes her head in acknowledgement then we finish our breakfast in a comfortable silence. My father had to work early this morning so he couldnt join us today. I place my dirty plate and fork in the dishwasher and my napkin in the garbage, I then head back upstairs so I can shower, brush my teeth, and get dressed and ready to go to Madelyns house.
