Chapter 3

Confused on what's going on in his body, Wei Wuxian sat, leaned on the headboard and hugged himself under the white cottony blanket

It's currently the winter season.

He glanced at the scenery behind the window, it is breezing with moist air outside and the grass were coated with snow. Yet, cultivators could still be seen doing their usual routine...

Despite of the coldness that everyone could felt due to this weather, However, Wei Wuxian rolled up in the bed, covered on a blanket as he hugged himself to suppressed the heat that were gradually increasing inside his body

He sat on the bed dumbfounded. "What's... going on? It's so warm! no, it's really hot!" his palms felt his both cheeks, and like a kid who got burned in a candle, he immediately took his burned palms away, closed it in a fist and hide it under his clothes

As his mind dazed off thinking on what's happening in him, he suddenly remembered that the heat he's feeling at the moment is somewhat familiar to him but he shookt his head in refusal, "No, no, no... It's impossible! Indeed, impossible. No way in the world that it is true!"

Although the familiar heat isn't experienced personally by him, he still have ideas on what it is

A strange emotions passed through him.

Wayback when he's fifteen, and studying here in cloud recesses, he once have read a book. It is an erotica book between two men that he accidentally stepped on when he's sneaking outside at night in the woods with an intention of getting a jar of emperor's smile...

The book looks old and was covered in thick dust and dirt. As of curiosity, he picked it up and wiped the cover to reveal the title, "Ome...ga...verse... huh? What is this? I never heard that word before"

Due to his curiousity of why there is such a book abandoned on the grass, he was also curious now on what it is all about after reading the strange word as a title that he never heard of...

Wei Wuxian, "Hmm, this quite looks interesting to read but it is covered in dirt so i guess, i should go back to wipe it off!" he clearly forgot about the emperor's smile as the reason why he went out. Instead, he turned around and headed back his way inside

As when he saw Wei Wuxian who was slightly humming while walking in the hallway, Lan Zhan get off from his jingshi and blocked his way. "Sneaking at late at night is prohibited in the cloud recesses." he said in a warning tone "Tell me, why was it you again? Aside from violating the first rule i've said, you also forgot, or perhaps, neglected that drinking alcohol is also prohibited here."

Wei Wuxian didn't pay much attention to the hundreds or thousands of rules written over on the wall outside but he, atleast knew these common simple rules. Although he knew it, he also didn't pay much attention on wether he should follow it or not

But Lan Zhan clearly misunderstood him this time! and thus, he stepped in closely, a sincere look could be seen in his eyes as he explained, "Lan Zhan, i am aware of my wrong actions these past few days that you also caught me and... until now..."

He breathed in. Then, the sincere look from earlier, instantly changed into a mischievous grin plastered on his face. "Look! Brother Lan, i am not bringing emperor's smile this time" he tucked in the book in his robe then he lift up his both arms in the form of like a wings to show it off to Lan Zhan

Lan Zhan watched him closely suspiciously and with a hint of hidden amusement. He replied, "Must be thrown after consuming it, no?"

Wei Wuxian sensed that Lan Zhan is still doubting him. So he pulled down his arms and grab the book in his waist and he also show it off in his face as he proudly said, "As what i've said, you clearly misunderstood me! Look again, im not holding a jar of emperor's smile but instead, a book! Yes, a book!"

He proudly waved the book in the air, its dust were slowly falling on the floor. Lan Zhan's eyes sternly glanced at Wei Wuxian and then at the book in a slight disdain. "...What kind of book is that? And why is it covered in dirt?"

Wei Wuxian brought back the book and tucked it in again in his robe. "Hm...? I also wonder..." he said while slowly rubbing his palms off together to remove the dust he'd caught from holding the book "I mean, I just found it on the middle of the woods and it caughts my interest so i decided to bring it back here to clean then read..."

"Caughts your interest...?" Lan Zhan stared back at the book

"Yes, yes! Brother Lan, it's because that when i read the title, it's the first time that i've heard a word like that. Maybe it's like an ancient word or something?"

Lan Zhan is now also quite interested at the book upon hearing what he said so he asked, "What it says?"

Wei Wuxian replied, "It's read like uhm, 'Omega Verse'..."

"That is indeed unfamiliar..." Lan Zhan commented, "Can you hand it over? I want to have a look at it"

Wei Wuxian thought that despite it is covered in dust, Lan Zhan still want to hold it and seems also interested in it. So he proudly grab the book again and handed it on him. "Here, Lan Zhan, after i wipe the dirt off later, i'll let you borrow it for you to read it first..."

Lan Zhan took the book then he scanned the cover thoroughly as if trying to find if there's indeed a touch of ancient material on it

Wei Wuxian continued, "I trust that you'll soon encounter some words that were familiar to you as because you were knowledgeable enough and your vocabulary is obviously far wider than mine..."

Lan Zhan saw that below the capitalized title, there are words written in small cursive. His eyes squinted as he tried to read the words silently in his mind, "Men... Ero... tica?"

Men? Erotica?

He dig up his mind, trying to remember if there is another word of it with different meaning but he only knew one 'erotica' word and that is...

Wei Wuxian continued his blabbering, "When this happens, i know that you'll realize the meaningful sense of it then--"

Lan Zhan immediately pushed back the book on his chest which falls on the floor soon after, caughts Wei Wuxian off guard and causing him to stop off his sentence. Lan Zhan then look at him with his eyes like in a bloodshot mode and he said, "Shameless!"

Then he turned around and walk briskly away from him... with his earlobes reddened...
