Hastening toward the shed, Folasade called out as loud as she could for us to hurry up. My palms were sweaty and I could feel my heart pounding out of my chest. It was such a clamorous sound and felt not only audible to me, but to my friends as well. We made it to the shed after what felt like over five miles of straight running. "What the hell Fola?" I screeched as I tried to catch my breath. My body leans forward in a position to do so. "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought we were running from a deranged psychopath who won't stop until he kills us all, until he makes your dumbass suffer." Folasade and I walk up to each and start swinging their punches. "Enough! You two are acting like idiots. My god! We need to find Amore and Mason." Zenobia belched, we ignored her and continued to fight. "Oh my gosh, can't you two stop it..." Instantaneously, what felt like half a second, the phone started ringing. An unknown caller was reaching out. It fell silent as I reluctantly answered. "What do you want?" I asked. Although I was putting on a tough facade, I could feel my heartbeat in my throat as I spoke. "Ten minutes have passed and your time is up..." A filtered, uttered voice emerged from the phone. "Wait- no..." Before I could even formulate a thought, a gunshot sounded off towards us ladies. Zenobia's eyes widened as she started to trip over onto the ground. "AHHHHHHHH!" Folasade squalled. I couldn't believe what I saw, blood splattered onto my shoes and a wall of the shed. The phone fell silent as the sound effect for leaving a call rang in my ears...
~PRESENT~
~Monday, November 25th, 2020~ ~9:00am~
~Cynthia's point of view~Walking down the stairs, I would do my usual 'morning routine' where I grab a preheatable croissant every morning, with a bag of Flamin Cheetos, an orange, and drinks that consisted of water and an orange soda. Today though, suddenly the door opened unexpectedly. "Sh-shit... What up, C! How are you this morning?" My ignorant, slutty brother asked. I guess I'd play along and attempt to ignore the fact he just walked in at this time of morning. "I'm doing fine, baby bro. What are you up to so early in the morning?" I responded. I knew a lie was coming, so like an idiot I braced myself for impact. As if it actually doesn't get more ridiculous every time. "Well, there was this school thing and I had to go early because i-it closes earlier than school starts..." He stuttered. "Oh so there was a school thing that closes before school starts? Oh, ok. What 'thing' was it?" I quizzed. His eyes started shooting around the room, which implied he didn't know what to say. "Oh, don't be shy brother. You can tell me whose ass it was last night." I teased mockingly. He rolled his eyes, gave me a kiss on my cheek, and walked upstairs. I chuckled. He was sweet when he wanted to be, but the charm was only to hide his insolence.
By the way, when he walked into the house I could tell he was drained, so I figured he'd be skipping school today. Not like my father cared though, he was laid out, snoring on the couch. This household was just insulting at this point. The sight of these people kept my blood boiling and made me want to bleach my eyes out everyday.
I finished up my breakfast, snatched my bag from the cushion of one of the dinner chairs, and proceeded to walk out of the front door, slamming it behind me. That usually woke my dad up from his unearned slumber. Yet, somehow he still used it as an opportunity to go back to watching 'The X files.'
What an ignorant bastard.
As I walked towards my school building which was only ten minutes away, the roads were vacant. More than usual, which was kind of a red flag since it was still the beginning of the year. So I knew no one was on any vacations. Now that I'm thinking about it, I didn't check the time before I left, so I wasn't aware of what number the clock would strike next. Eventually, I shook off the feeling of slight anxiety and continued the path that led to my school.
~7 Minutes Later~
Once I reached my building, I entered immediately. I knew I had been late since the janitor hadn't been on the front lawn picking up trash, like he did every morning. A feeling of anxiousness once again pervaded through my stomach. A quick shiver fell from my shoulder. Today was already off to an unusual start. Again, I paid no mind to it and kept walking.
