Hi

Ship(platonic)
None! Just a confused Neil learning about regression

For this oneshot: max is his normal age so is anybody else here, max regresses to 0-3 due to stress.

Plot: Max was in his tent, holding a stuffed bear he has to his chest. Watching cartoons on David's phone (meant for 0-3 year olds). Neil walks in, confused.

No ones POV:
Max is in his tent, he had stolen David's phone again! He was watching cartoons on YouTube. He held his stuffed bear tightly to his chest. After a few , Neil is outside the tent. He walks in not expecting what he sees.

"Uhm.. max what're you doing?" Neil asks confused. Max turns the cartoon of quickly and shooting up off the bed. Trying to think of an excuse, but he couldn't. He started getting overwhelmed. He felt tears going down his cheeks, he quickly wipes them away hiding under his blanket, clenching his stuffed toy. Neil comes over to him lifting the blanket off the boy. "Max? Are you okay?" Neil questions, max whines and moves away. "Max. Come here, I'm not gonna hurt you!" Neil practically begs a bit. Max moves over to him, feeling himself leave little space. Neil scrunches his nose a bit. "What was this all about? And why were you watching a baby cartoon?" Neil questions. Max bites his lip.

"I-it's uh. A thing called age regression. It's a coping mechanism where the person reverts to a younger state of mind.. sorry if that's weird" Max semi mumbles while fiddling with his fingers. Neil nods understanding. But why is max using a coping mechanism? What stress or trauma does he have?

"But, why do you need it to cope? Like what type of stress do you have, if you do." Max shifts a bit.

"People just don't understand me.. they're either mean to me or ignore me I guess. Then being in this dreadful camp stresses me out, I don't wanna be here..." max mumbles but Neil hears and softens up. Neil picks max up into his lap.

"Okay. I don't think you're weird"
