I sat on my bed at the break of dawn putting my records gently back in their jackets. My hand slipped over my player closing it for the moment. I cleared my desk of the old cups that had been there for probably days.
I opened my drapes, letting the morning sunrise pour into the newly picked up room. I turned and smiled, looking at my room.
My floors were clean, my poster glistened, my carpet was fluffy as ever. I switched on the television turning the knob switching through the channels.
I walked downstairs awaiting the arrival of my best friend. Her name was Jennie. She was everything I'm not.
Her long curly ginger hair sits perfectly behind her headband every day. Her red button nose, and her rosy cheeks. I can't think like that.
A knock on my door interrupted my thoughts.
"You remember that birthday surprise i had for you?" she said excitedly setting her keys on the table.
"Yea?" i said in a confused manner.
She jumped up and down in excitement. Her hand reached into her pockets. Quickly she pulled two Beatles tickets out of her pocket. My face went bright red with excitement. My hand shook as i jumped up and down.
"TOMMORROW?!?!" i said in disbelief.
she nodded and grabbed my hand. She dragged me out of the house and down the sidewalk.
"We have to buy you an outfit" she said happily.
"Jennie it's barley 8 am"
"They store down town are open"
We drove down the street, her roof down blasting the Beatles. It was like my dream was coming true. My hair blew as the wind an its fingers through. As her car parked in the parking lot, she pulled me out of the car.
The racks almost empty, we shuffled through anyway. She grabbed a dress, a bright one. The green was electric and pretty. It complimented her fiery hair nicely. A white band separated the top from the bottom. A white collar sat upon the shoulder of the dress.
What had sat next to it was what had caught my attention though. A Mustard yellow dress with white sleeves and a white collar. It was the most beautiful thing i had ever seen. Plaid detailing reached across the build of the dress. The colors looked amazing together. with a nice nude pair of shoes it would look amazing.
I grabbed it quickly looking at the tag. i was a bit disappointed by the price. $4 was expensive for a dress. She looked over seeing my expression and asked,
"what's wrong?"
"it's $4" i said sadly.
"Mine is 6, don't worry about it"
"thats a whole 10 dollars, Jennie"
"And?"
"Thats 23 dollars for the dresses and the tickets" i said softly
"You forget my dads rich" she giggled grabbing my hand pulling me out of the store...'
