"Sienna?" A blury voice called out. His voice echoed.

I cracked my eyes open, wondering where I was. A bright white light shone, briefly blinding me. I opened my mouth to talk. My voice came out in a croak.

"Hey, hey. You're safe now." He rubbed my arm reassuringly.

"Where am I?" I opened my eyes fully. Luke's face came into view. I blinked a couple of times to try and clear my vision.

He smiled gravely. "You're at my place."

"What? Why?" I tried to force myself up. A throbbing pain shot through my head, causing me to wince.

"Don't move." He warned, "it'll only hurt more."

Suddenly, the memories of last night came rushing in. "Luke!" I exclaimed, throwing my arms around him.

He seemed surprised, but he slowly returned the hug. "What's this for?"

"I thought I may never see you again." I whispered.

"I'm here. Don't worry. Everything's fine." He rubbed my arms soothingly. "Just rest okay?"

I nodded and slowly laid back down. I was in Luke's bedroom, lying down on his bed. The curtains were drawn open, allowing the sunlight to stream in. That was the bright light that had woken me up.

Luke got up and left the room. He came back a few moments later with Caleb and a glass of water.

"Caleb?" I questioned, feeling happy. "Why are you here?"

Caleb smiled and came towards me. He sat on the edge of the bed and ruffled my hair. "What do you mean why am I here? Who do you think patched you up?"

"What are you talking about?" I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion.

Caleb and Luke looked at me expectantly. Luke spoke up, "don't you remember last night?"

"Of course I remember last night." I looked at him. "We went to rescue Gem, but Jon had been playing us. Then those thugs started beating you up and Jon dragged me away."

"Then?"

"Um, Jon was being a psycho. He wanted to kill me." I stopped as I suddenly realized what had happened. "He tried to stab me." My eyes widened in shock. "I dated a serial killer."

"Well, he's not really a serial killer. He's just a killer." Caleb stated, bobbing his head up and down.

I turned to him, incredulous. "Really?"

"What? It's true." He shrugged. "And he did not stab you. He managed to make a superficial cut so don't worry. You're fine now, thanks to me of course. It'll just take a couple of weeks for it to heal." He grinned cockily.

I frowned, looking at Luke. "But then why did you ask Caleb to patch me up? Why not take me to the hospital? And why the heck did you let that dweeb come near me with a needle?" I looked accusingly at Luke.

"First of all, I am not a dweeb." Caleb said, getting my attention. "And second of all, I do pre-med. I'm a much better person to patch you up than Luke could ever be."

"Hey!" Luke protested.

I did a double take. "You do pre-med?" I blinked at him. "Then why do you work in a bar?"

"Part time job." He replied in a 'duh' voice.

"The grocery store?"

"I was covering for a friend."

"Why are you always free?"

"I'm not. Coincidently, you always happen to catch me during my free time."
