For the past year i've had a recurring dream. It always begins with me in a room sitting at a marble top table. To the left of me there is a kitchen that has cobblestone countertops, a stainless steel refrigerator, and black wooden cabinets. To the right of me there is a small living area. In the living room area there is a long black leather couch with recliners on each end, and a tv mounted on the wall over the fireplace. After looking around I noticed a woman at the table next to me whose face I didn't recognize. In front of me there is a door that I stare at intensely, while staring I get the urge to ask the woman a question when suddenly my mother comes bursting into the room. Upon looking at her I realize she is hysterically bawling her eyes out while covered in blood. That's the end and I wake up to the beautiful screaming of my best friend Ashanti. Ashanti has been my best friend since I moved to Lawrenceville High. She has a mocha complexion, hazel and almond eyes. She has thick hair but it's mostly in braids. She is slim, thick and tall. She is beautiful and knows it. After she realizes im awake she stops screaming.

"Rise and shine sleeping beauty" she says sarcastically

"Such a lovely wake up call' I reply equally sarcastic

Ashanti has lived with us for a year now since her parents are missionaries who travel the world. I let Ashanti use the bathroom first since I want more time to lounge in bed. After she comes out I grab my clothes and head in. After my shower I look at myself in the mirror. I'm pretty cute if I do say so myself. I have caramel like skin, thick curly black hair, green and very almond eyes and I'm slim, thick and curvy. I thank my parents for my features. My mom is native american and my dad is korean, but he's not in the picture. He's not a deadbeat or anything, he passed away when I was too young to remember.

It's a week before school starts and I promised to go shopping with Ashanti. Not only does school start but I also turn eighteen soon as well. As I leave the bathroom I see Ashanti looking at me with a concerned expression.

"Same dream" she asks still concerned
"Yeah, it's okay though" I told Ashanti about my dream when I first started having it. She thinks it's a memory but why would my mom be covered in blood in my memory? It's too crazy.

But I try not to think about the dream too much. We head down stairs to find my mom cooking a big hefty breakfast. The smell of bacon floats through the air tickling my nose, tempting me to eat it. It's weird I wasn't much of a bacon person till recently but they say your taste buds change every seven years. I grab a few pieces of bacon and rush out the door
"See ya mom thanks for the breakfast"
"No problem, don't be home to late girls" my mom is the best. She gives me the Native American side of the family. She is a very beautiful woman with green eyes, curly hair, high cheekbones, is slim, thick, and has a mocha complexion. She is a doctor, she is overprotective and always worried for me especially lately.

Ashanti drives and we head to Atlantic station. They have all types of shops up there, when we arrive we head to forever 21 first.

"So what are you wearing to your party" Ashanti asks excitedly
"Nothing because I don't want a party this year" I say knowing damn well that there will be one like every year despite my desperate attempts at canceling them.
"Don't even, you know you're having one so just pick out an outfit to try on." She insists.
"Ok" I say stubbornly
I pick out one that is just long enough it stops right before my knees. The back is open with two spaghetti straps crossing to make an x. The color is a shimmering black color. I go to try it on, I like the way it looks so I come out of the dressing room and show Ashanti.

"No to long," she says, only looking at the length and nothing else.
"Think it's cute" I say shyly
Ashanti knows I'm stubborn so she just lets me keep it. I didn't really want a short dress for my party anyway.
