When we've finished our drinks, we head to the shops.
"Victoria, I need you're advice. I want to dip-dye my hair." I say when we're in Debenhams.
"Seriously? What colour?" She asks.
"Purple or red. Maybe turquoise." I say, running my hand along a shelf full of hundreds of nail polish colours that could match it.
"Electric blue would look amazing on you." Victoria says, taking the end of my hair between her two fingers.
"Hey, how about next time the boys are out at the radio station we have a girly night?" I say, picking up a lilac nail polish.
"That would be so cool." She replies. I'm about to say something else, but before I can there's suddenly a disgusted shriek from behind us, and when I turn around I'm faced with four teenage girls.
"Ew, it's that girl from Phil's live show." One of them says.
"She's even uglier IRL."
"Are you getting that then?" Victoria asks, pointing at the nail polish I'm still holding and completely blanking them.
"Yep." I say, walking away from the girls and making my way to the checkout.
"Just ignore them. They pretend it's what's best for Dan but it really isn't." Victoria mutters.
I nod and pay for the nail polish.
"Guys, are you ready? I'm just nipping next door with Zoe." Louise says from a nearby clothes rack.
"Yeah, we're just coming." Victoria replies.
"OMG SprinkleOfGlitter! Can I get a selfie with you?" One of the girls says, clearly having followed us.
Before Louise can reply, Gabby catches her eye and shakes her head the tiniest bit. She must have seen everything that just happened.
"I'm so sorry girls but I'm in a huge rush. Any other time I'd love it." Louise replies, turning to leave.
"And anyway, after what you just said to Gi, I-" Gabby starts, but sees Lydia shaking her head as well.
"We need to go." Lucy says sternly, and follows Louise.
Tanya must have gotten out first and is quietly explaining to Zoe, who missed everything.
"Are you alright?" Lydia asks, tapping me on the shoulder. I nod, willing myself not to breakdown. She suddenly hugs me and I hug her back. Everyone else gathers round.
"Thank you, Victoria, and Louise, for suggesting we leave." I say, and they nod.
LATER
Zoe invites us all out for dinner afterwards, saying it would be better than watching Joe, Caspar and Alfie play FIFA all night.
"I don't think Dan needs to know-" I start when we're sat down, but Louise stops me.
"Too bad. I rang him when you thought I was in the toilets and told him what happened."
"Lou!" I roll my eyes. I'd only known these girls five hours but I could tell we were going to be good friends. We technically were already.
"He needs to know!" Louise says, picking up the menu.
"Chummy, what are you having?" Louise says to Zoe across the table and ending the conversation.
LATER THAT EVENING
I turn my key in the lock and the door swings open. I'm not expecting it to be locked, mind. Everywhere's dark and so I reach for the light switch. Next to it a piece of paper is taped up which reads
Gi,
Phil and I got called out last minute to film some stuff for Radio 1, we'll be back as soon as xxx
I smile and walk into the empty living room.
DAN POV
When Phil and I get back from Radio 1, the lights are on in the flat, but Gi's nowhere to be seen. I'd been pretty annoyed at what Louise told me earlier on.
I can hear the TV, so I hang up my coat and walk into the living room. An old episode of Gossip Girl is on and she's asleep on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around her.
And it's then that I do one of the most non-Dan things imaginable . I switch off the TV, pick her up and carry her into the spare room.
