I can always hear yelling from downstairs. It happens every day after my dad gets home from work. I don't know why he doesn't move out know. I already know that they are getting a divorce. Why don't they just make it official and get one instead of dragging it on.
I sit on my bed playing on my phone. Then I get a call from my friend Aubrey. I love her. She is my best friend. I pick it up even though she will hear my parents fight. It's not like she hasn't herd it before.
"Hey" I say in the most calm why I can.
"Hey. It's Friday. Do you want to get away from the fighting and spend the night?" She asks me. Her home is like my first home. My house doesn't really feel like my house.
"Sure. I will be over in about 15 minutes."
"Ok. See you when you get here." From there I get off my bed and grab clothes from my dresser and stuff then in my backpack. I leave a note in my desk. I doubt they will even notice I am gone, but just to make sure. I don't want to get in the way if their argument so I just climb out of my window and run to Aubrey's house.
When I get there she is waiting on her porch for me. I just run to her and give her a hug. We don't talk for a minute and walk into her house and then to her room. Her parents and sisters aren't home but we are 14 so it's ok. Because Aubrey and I don't go to the same school we don't see each other every day but I come over almost ever weekend.
"How bad was it when you got home?" She asks me within all of the silence.
"Uh... I guess he got home before I got home because they were screaming by the time I got home. But I don't really want to talk about it. Can we go on a ride?" I love riding Aubrey's horses. It makes me feel free and away from all of the commotion at home.
"Sure." After that we walked about of her house and to her barn. We both live in the town Lebanon, Oregon . It is a little town. And it would probably be ok if we rode her horses around to her school. She goes to a private Christian school. I know she is a really big Christian, but I am not. I just think they are all crazy.
After we get the horses all tacked up we got on a when to her school. It was really nice. Aubrey is always trying to make me turn Christian, but do t want to be one.
After we got there we just walked and talked about things.
"Madison, would you ever think about accepting Jesus into your life?" I just stay silent. Sometimes I really don't know if I will ever for sure not or will accept him into my life. Bit I don't have for sure answer so I always say I don't know.
We were on our way back and I though, what if I just moved in with Aubrey? I'm mean I could go to school with her. Wait. Ugh, it helps to think.
When we got home her family was there and we said hi and had dinner and when back to Aubrey's room. We just talked and played games. It was nice. To be normal for a while.
