Your POV

"Hey... Sora?" I asked my best friend, "Yeah?" She replied. "Do you... do you think we'll make it out of this killing game?"

She had a small smile, "Of course we'll make it out together." She said, "What makes you say that?" She asked. "Most of our friends have died. There's only Yoruko, Yuki, Iroha, me, you, and god knows where Syobai is." I said.

"We'll make it out. I promise." Sora said. "Promise?" I asked as I put my pinkie out, "Promise." She said as she hooked her pinkie with mine.

AT THE 6TH TRIAL

Mikako explained his plan about wanting to put Utsuro's personality into Sora's body. I came up with a question while he was doing so, "Wait a minute! Then... what is Sora!?" I asked, "Her brain's dead, meaning she shouldn't have an avatar, so that's why you're choosing Akane's body... how is Sora here then!? If she's not Akane's avatar, just what is she!?"

"...Yes. I think it's about time... to reveal what she is." Mikado said, "Sora is..."

"She's basically nothing."

I froze at hearing that.

"Iroha probably knows about this. But during the preparation stages, I didn't reveal anything about Sora. I wasn't trying to hide anything. It's just because there was literally nothing to show. Sora's not human. She's just here to assist in Master Utsuro's resurrection in the Neo World Program... She'd just an algorithm, so to speak." Mikado explained.

"W-What...? S-She's an algorithm...?" I asked. "Wait so...? She's not Akane Taira?" Rei questioned.

"Miss Taira has been dead from the very beginning, it's impossible to connect her to the Neo World Program. Instead, I created a blank personality and placed her inside there. Maybe Sora has already felt this. But her memories of being Akane Taira have felt unusual." Mikado explained.

I looked to my side to see Sora in shock, "An algorithm...? I'm... just an... algorithm...?" She asked. "Did you ever have a strange feeling during the killing game? For example... feeling like your body is not your own, and like it's moving on it's own." Mikado questioned. Sora froze after hearing that.

LATER

Sora's POV

I was saying my goodbyes to everyone and finally got to Y/N.

"S-Sora..." they said, "...Y/N, you're my best friend." I said. They begun to sob, "Please don't cry..." I begged, "This is how it was supposed to be." I said as I hugged them.

They wiped their eyes, "...You... you broke our promise." They said, "You promised me we'd escape together. You said that to my face... we- we even hooked pinkies..."

We stopped hugging them Rei walked up to us, "...Akane Taira." She said, "What is it, Rei...?" I asked, "Sorry... I probably shouldn't call you that. Can I call you Sora?" She asked. "Don't overthink it, just call me whatever you'd like." I replied, "Good..."

She then turned to Y/N, "Y/N, there is no reason to be sad. Even when the Neo World Program ends, the data contained within will not be deleted. However, since that data also contains Mikado. It should be disposed of, however... It might be possible to backup Sora's data, so there might come a time where you're able to see her again."

"A-Are you Serious...?" They asked, "I'm not 100% sure yet... in fact, the possibility might be close to zero..." she said. She then turned to me again, "Sora... I truly respect everything you've done for us, so I will try my best on behalf of the Kisaragi Foundation."

Tsurugi came up to us, "Rei... are you insane? Even if she'd just a shell of the real thing, she still has the personality of Akane Taira in her." He said, "You can't make decisions like that without my permission..."

"Shut your mouth. I don't want to hear another word from you." Rei snapped, showing the man who's boss. Tsurugi finally shut the fuck up. "...Tsurugi Kinjo, I swear when this is all over... you and I are going to have a very important chat." Rei said.

She walked away.

"...See, Y/N." I said as I turned to my friend. "You promised me we'd get out of here together... you better keep that one day." They said, "...Don't worry, we will definitely meet again." I reassured her.

I looked around the room, "The outside would is still going to be tough for you all. But... that's part of being human, isn't it? To think, to act, and to live... it's all proof that you're human. So please..."

"...Please live the best lives you all can. Living in itself is hope... Hope isn't just in Hope's Peak Academy, nor from the Next Generation Symbols of Hope... it's from within you."

Everyone then begun logging out.

"Sora... we will definitely meet again...! Goodbye..." Y/N said their last goodbye. I could see the tears in their eyes as they logged out of the virtual world.

Once everyone logged out, I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise."
