Kuroo glanced down to his side, seeing Matsushita to his left. The boy was standing, his knees slightly bent and his hands covering his head. No matter who was serving, he never seemed to trust the player to hit the ball over the net. It was a bit amusing. His flat green eyes were trained on the other side, staring right at Fukurodani's captain. Kuroo glanced at Bokuto, seeing the ace shoot Matsushita a playful wink before running his tongue over his lip in a slightly suggestive manner. Kuroo looked back at Matsushita who was smirking.Did they—? No, no way. Kuroo shook his head, focusing on the game again. He noticed Konoha was glaring right at Matsushita, fire in his eyes. He's the one that started a fight with Matsushita last year, Kuroo thought to himself, recounting his second year. Kuroo wanted to talk to him, but decided right now he should be thinking about the game.
"Kuro." Kenma was tugging at his shirt. Kuroo leaned down, confused. "Naoi said keep your head in the game. Are you tired?" Kenma asked. Kuroo was taken aback by that. Kenma never asked about him. If anything, Kuroo had to take care of Kenma and make sure the setter would come to practice, and his childhood friends wouldn't die from malnourishment, since he so often forgot to eat.
"Oh, no, I'm fine Kenma. How about you, did you eat that banana?" Kenma pursed his lips, scowling a bit. Kuroo rolled his eyes, ruffling Kenma's hair.
"God, you're like an overbearing parent," Matsushita said teasingly. Kenma nodded in agreement at the third year's statement. Kuroo scoffed.
"Alright! Nice serve, Yamamoto!" someone shouted. Yamamoto bounced the ball a few times, before throwing it up and spiking it.
Komi received it, sending the ball to Akaashi. The pretty setter tossed the ball up, and Bokuto jumped, slamming his hand against the ball. Matsushita and Kuroo jump, their hands bumping against each other as they stopped Bokuto's ball.
"Damn it!" Bokuto shouted, storming away from the net.
"Bokuto-san," Akaashi said.
"Hey now, Bokuto, you aren't getting riled up, are you?" Kuroo egged his friend. Bokuto glared at him. Kuroo snickered.
Matsushita placed his hands on his hips.
"Come on Bokkun, your hands can do better than that~" Matsushita encouraged. Bokuto chuckled, walking back up to the net.
"Damn right, and you know it~" Bokuto replied. Matsushita simpered.
"Then show me~" Bokuto's motivation seemed to have spiked as he returned to his spot.
Kuroo watched the exchange with a slight sinking feeling.
The match went on for a while, but in the end, Nekoma lost the third set by a point. They ran up the hill, coming back down to be greeted by fresh watermelon slices. Kuroo grabbed a large slice, smiling when he saw Kenma, Lev, and Hinata sitting next to each other and eating.
"Kenma's opening up quite a bit to Ginger over there," Matsushita said, standing next to Kuroo.
"Mm," Kuroo agreed, smiling.
"Is that a PSP?" Matsushita asked, pointing to Kuroo's pocket. Kuroo glanced down.
"Yeah, I had to take so he would eat," Kuroo replied. Matsushita laughed and his Adam's Apple bobbed. His cheeks were slightly flushed, and a drop of sweat rolled down his throat and onto his exposed collarbone. Kuroo glanced away, rubbing his neck. He spotted Konoha who was talking with Bokuto and Akaashi. Matsushita had already walked away, so Kuroo decided to move over to the Fukurodani boys.
"Kuroo!" Bokuto shouted, waving. Konoha greeted him with a head nod.
"Hey, Konoha do you mind if we talk?" Konoha cocked his brow. Akaashi pulled Bokuto's sleeve, dragging the confused captain away. Konoha looked up at Kuroo.
