Chapter 4 Slice of Life

APOV

Stepping off the bus near my apartment I'm beat and in dire need of  a nap knowing my day is not quite over having to hightail it to downtown Portland by 9pm.

Calling out to Kate as I enter the apartment. "Luuuuuucy I'm hooooome and starving. How long before dinner?"

Kate with her nose in the computer looking completely absorbed with her task, without looking up says  "In twenty, Ricky. And why are you home early?"

"A couple people didn't show up for study group which is fine by me. So look, I'm going to hop in the shower. We'll catch-up on our day over dinner."

Dropping the bags in my room and quickly taking off my clothes slipping on my robe, I make my way to our bathroom for a much needed hot shower. Twisting my hair in a tight bun, I start the water and jump in letting the jets hit my back. Feels so good.

Slipping my robe back on after my shower I make my way to the kitchen. Noticing Kate hasn't moved, it's best if I check on the lasagna I made last-night. Good it's almost ready.

Trying for my best Cuban accent, like when Ricky becomes exacerbated by Lucy antics.

"Oye Luuuucy, you made ensalada?" As I toss my tired heap on the couch, stretching out like a cat then hitting the remote for the TV. With my mind in a fog absentmindedly I channel surf.

Laughing "Shut up Ricky! You're distracting me. I'm almost finished. Oh and you should take a look at the photos Jose took of Mr. Grey. Damn that man has model good looks."

Great! Kate has me thinking about him AGAIN! sighing"I'll look at the pics after dinner. I just want to shut my eyes for now."

Closing my eyes I think about him the weird day I had. I mean, seriously who does that kinda player phone thingamajig. It felt like the oldest trick in the 'how to pick-up chicks' handbook and as much as I hate to admit this, for me, it was exciting and very flirtatious. Then he reached out gently tugging my chin, I really need to stop doing biting my lip, only to feel the same charge when shaking his hand. I thought I was going to melt right there on the spot. Jesus That man struts like a cock on the walk, oozing sex appeal. There's absoutely nothing humble or modest about this man.

And those texts he sent. It felt like he was demanding I carve out time to meet him. I'm sure he realizes this is crunch time, then again, for a man like him he doesn't care. And there is no way I'm dropping everything to accommodate him. Which makes feel a little confused, it seemed like I was dealing with two people, one that was polite having manners offering to carry my books and the other side that came across as demanding and arrogant.

Ughh, Ana don't worry about it Grabbing one of our throw pillows and putting it over my head. Rest is what's needed. As I'm drifting Kate barks "Ricky, let's eat."

"Ugh Lucy, I need five minutes more."

"Close your eyes after we eat. Get up. Tell me how your day went."

debating if I should tell Kate about Christian thinking it's best to leave well enough alone because Kate will inundate me with questions. That's one thing I'm sure aware of which is the Kavanagh Inquisition. She will squeeze every minute detail out of it and pick me apart.

"Ah, you know nothing out of the ordinary. Yoga went well I think there were a few extra bodies that showed up for the session. I already mentioned a couple people didn't show up for study group which I could care less about. They dragged the rest of us by their insensate chatter about reality shows. Rehearsals were fun like usual. What about you?"
