You were invited to a party by a friend of a far friend, as that was normal in your hometown, but it turns out to be a bore. You are leaving the party when you accidentally hit someone with a door

The music faded behind you as you walked out of the door. It was only 11 PM, but the party was really killing the vibe. You let the door go off your hand and as you did, you heard a soft scold behind you.

You turned around and saw that the door had hit someone.

"Shit, I am so sorry." you apologize to the person. "Are you hurt?"

"No, no, it's alright." he replied, looking at you.

You opened your mouth in confusion and surprise. "Max Verstappen?"

He nodded his head and a cheeky smile grew on his face. "The one and only."

"It's great to meet you. I do even feel guiltier about dropping that door in your face now though. I am y/n. Please let me buy you a drink? I want to apologize." you said, feeling genuinely guilty, especially after acknowledging that you hit the star-driver.

"Alright. As long as we don't go back in there," he pointed at the club where the party was still going on, "that party was shit."

You were glad he was taking your offer and the two of you started walking away from the party.

"Oh my god, I know. We'll just go down the street and see if we can find something fun. If we can't, my car is down the street as well so we could drive somewhere else, I know a lot of great places."

"Sounds like a plan, let's go."

You walked down the street, noticing that a lot of places were actually still closed. They would only open at 12, when some of the other clubs were closing already.

"So, appears that all the good places in this street are closed..." you pouted as you neared the end of the long street.

"Don't sweat it. Let's just go for a ride. You are from here, right?"

"Yeah, this is my hometown, born and raised here." You smile and wander off in your thoughts. This town held so many memories. You looked around you and spotted the cliff, you pointed at it. "See that point? With the big tree over there."

He followed your finger and indeed saw the tree you were mentioning. He nodded in reply.

"That's my favorite place of the city. It is actually right outside the city, but it's sort of near my parental house. I used to come there everyday, haven't been there for some time now, though."

You remembered going there whenever you needed your space, when you needed to get your head empty. But also going there with some friends to hang out near the oak tree, having picnics and swinging on the rope that hung from the tree. You wondered if it was still there.

Max looked at you and your whole face lit up when you were talking about your special place, he liked what it did to you. "We could go there now, so you can be there again. I can see that that place means a lot to you."

You looked back at him and saw that he was smiling. It was a great idea honestly and you didn't hesitate to take his offer.

"My car is over there. It's the red one." you said, joy in your voice. You hadn't been at the cliff for at least over a year and you had missed it now you were thinking about it.

The two of you walked over to your car and a smile appeared on Max's face. It wasn't the kind of car he'd normally drive in, but it was cute. "I like your car."

"You do?" you asked with a chuckle, cocking your eyebrow at him, knowing that your car wasn't the newest and greatest anymore. "Honestly, it does it's job. It has bluetooth, airco, and it can be made into a cabrio. It adds spice to it."

He laughed and got in as you unlocked the car. Your energy was matching one another's and you were having a great chat. It felt all natural and the both of you enjoyed it. It was a great alternative to the boring party, and like this, both of you didn't have to go home early as you hadn't planned to.

"It's going to be quite a drive though. It looks like it is nearby, but there is not really a straight road to it."

As you started the engine, the roof of the car opened and folded into the back. The sweet summer breeze blew through your hair and made it dance a little in the wind.

It was a comfortable environment overall. The weather was nice, you were hanging out with a 'stranger' that perfectly matched your energy and you both had the same reason to leave this street behind. Instead of partying, they were going to hang out at your favorite place and watch as the stars scattered the night sky.

Your music started playing through the speakers as it was connected to your phone before. It played "Midnight City" by M83, literally the perfect song for the moment, but you were unsure to if he would like your taste in music as well.

"I hope you don't mind the music, we can turn it of or you could connect to the bluetooth."

"Really, I don't mind at all. I love this night. It is unexpected and unplanned, but I have enjoyed every second of it to this moment." he said, laying his hand on your shoulder and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

You shivered at his motion. You weren't the one for physical affection, but for some reason you didn't really mind his gesture. It sort of eased your mind to know that he meant what he said.

"Also, I think I know this song, it's the right vibe for the moment."

This was your favorite playlist you had. It was your main character-vibe playlist and right now, you felt like one. You never thought you would be experiencing this moment: driving down the coast under the pretty sky, the wind blowing through your hair and being with the right person.

It gave you an unknown kind of adrenaline rush and you loved the feeling.

And you didn't know it, but he did as well. This was the happiest both of you had felt in a long time. It was a moment where you didn't have to think about life. It was this moment and this moment only.

He appreciated the fact that you took the time to get to know him a little bit, without being prejudiced by anything you could have read online like his temper and competitive behaviour, as he wasn't like that off work at all. And even at work, he wasn't like that all of the time. He was tired of people thinking like that and basing their behaviour towards him on that information. You weren't like that.

"Waiting for a word. Looking at the milky skyline." you sang along to the song. You drove over the speed limit as you knew there would be nobody here. It was an abandoned road and people barely passed anymore.

Max couldn't stop smiling. He felt so good. He was constantly switching from looking at a singing you, adoring every feature of your face, adoring your confidence in everything and taking in your surroundings.

He felt alive.
