"Y/N, we need to get out of here, now!" Patrick Shouted, looking around him. "We need something...anything.."

He ran across the room and picked up a pencil that he found on a desk, observing it carefully.

"Okay, Patrick," You Said. "The whole pretending thing is adorable, but it's just an escape room."

"Don't ruin this for me." He pouted, setting the pencil back down.

"Hey, you're the one that dragged me here." You Said, shrugging.

"I didn't drag you here." He said. "You said you'd come."

"Only because it's your birthday and I wanted to make you happy." You Said. "I didn't know that they only allowed more than one person."

"But this is fun." He said.

"Fun? You've only found one clue, and the clock is already on twelve minutes." You Said.

"A-ha!" He exclaimed, pulling a piece of paper out of a drawer. "This code will open the door, come on!"

He came over to you and took your hand, leading you over to the door.

He handed you the piece of paper. "Read me the code." He said, rubbing his hands together as he stared at the keypad on the door.

You sighed. "5, h, 9, f, s, l, 2, y." You Read off of the paper.

"A little slower." He said. "I only got '5' and 'h.'"

"5...h...9...f...s...l.." you said, saying it slower and louder. "2...y.."

"Sheesh, I didn't ask you to be louder." He said, punching in the numbers and letters on the keypad.

The door opened, and he looked over at you, smiling widely.

He ran inside the new room, looking around. "The wall has some writing on it!" He said.

He ran over to the wall, and leaned in to read it. "It will take two to open the safe.." he said. "What safe?"

You folded the piece of paper up and stuck it in the back pocket of your jeans, then looked around the room. "That one?" You Asked, pointing at a nearby metal container of some sort.

His eyes widened. "You found it!" He exclaimed, running over to it. "I need your help."

"The lock is too heavy to unlock by myself." He said. "Can you help me?"

He looked at you with those big blue eyes of his, and you glanced up at the timer, which now read '10 minutes and 32 seconds.'

You nodded. "Yeah, I'll help."

He took one side of the wheel-like lock, and you took the other side.

"When I start turning, you turn with me." He said. "One, two...three."

He started turning the lock, and you started on your side. Suddenly, the door made a 'click' sound, and Patrick smiled.

The both of you stood up, and he opened the door of the safe, revealing a box full of papers.

"Help me look through these." He said. "I'm going to look for anything else."

"Okay." You Said, kneeling down on the floor again. You pulled out a stack of papers and started going through them, while Patrick ran around the room, looking through drawers and cabinets.

As you went through the papers, you realized that all of them were just plain white, so the one you were looking for had to be somewhere in here.

Pile after pile you looked through them, occasionally glancing up at the timer which was counting down seemingly quickly.

Finally, you found a piece of paper with large numbers on it, and you jumped up.

"Patrick!" You squealed. "I found something!"

He ran over, looking at the piece of paper. "It's another code!"

"What do we do with it?" You Asked.

"There's a computer in here!" He said, taking your hand and leading you over to a computer which hung on the wall, looking more like a small television.

You turned it on, and a keyboard came up. "I'll put in the code!" You said, quickly typing in the numbers from the paper.

The computer dinged, then went to a new screen. "Play this game without mistakes to get the key out of the room." You Said. "If you make a mistake, time will be taken away."

"Do you want me to do it?" Patrick Asked.

"We should find out what it is, first." You Said, biting your lip.

You tapped on the screen, a maze appeared, along with a list.

"Do not hit dead ends: each dead end will lose you a minute." You Read off the screen. "No hitting edges, it will lose you half a minute."

"Once you end the maze, a key will be given to you." He said. "Use this key to find your way out."

Patrick nudged you out of the way gently. "I used to be really good at these."

He moved the small dot through the maze with the keyboard, careful not to hit any edges, and making sure he didn't run into any dead ends.

You glanced up at the timer, suddenly hearing a loud buzzer which caused you to jump.

"What was that?" You Asked.

"I hit a dead end." He said. "The maze started over, too. How much time?"

"Five minutes." You Said.

"I need to hurry.."

He continued through the maze, making no mistakes, except for once hitting an edge, which only took away half a minute from your time.

Suddenly, there was a dinging sound, and a small little tray came from the computer.

Patrick picked the item off of it, and smiled. "It's the key!"

He looked over at the door. "This is it!" He said, running over.

You followed him, and he smiled at you. "Would you like to do the honors?"

"Of What?" You Asked.

"Unlocking the door to the next room." He said.

"Are you sure?" You Asked. "Just ten minutes ago I was dreading being here, and I only slowed you down...we're going to lose now because of me."

"Don't talk like that.." he said. "Anyway, I did drag you in here."

"No." You Said. "You always do things for me. The least I could've done was bring you to an escape room, but I messed it up. I was too wrapped up in my own ego, I guess."

"But you didn't mess it up." He said. "Look at how far we came because you helped. I think you deserve to unlock the door."

He held the key out to you, and you pushed it back gently. "Why don't we both unlock it?" You Asked.

He smiled, then nodded.

You both held the key with one hand, then stuck it into the keyhole. You looked up at Patrick, and he nodded at you.

You took a deep breath, then turned it.

Suddenly, bright lights came on, and a voice came in over the intercom.

"Congratulations. You've escaped."

"Wait, we...did it?" You Asked.

"We did it!" Patrick Exclaimed.

He hugged you, kissing you on the lips. "Thank you for bringing me."

You smiled. "Of course, Patrick." You Said. "Happy birthday, babe."
